This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Mozilla Flaw Discovered

There is an article up that states that Firefox and other Mozilla-related browsers have a hole that can allow external programs to be run without any intervention from the user. It was only a matter of time I suppose; those malicious hackers (bastards) like to cause as much damage as possible. To those using Firefox, I would suggest fixing the hole. Thoughts?

Are any truly safe? There is always a way around a fence. I would be curious if opera has a problem like this. Esq, since ou are a fan of this one, heres hoping they fix it and put out a updated version with it and nay other holes plugged.

Very true Final; what is "safe" on the internet?

In any case, version 0.9.2 is out and has fixed this bug. Remember also, that Firefox is not even a "real" release yet; they haven't even made a major release yet. When they get to 1.0, we'll see what happens.

Why did the replace firebird with firefox? I though firebird was good at the time.

Post Fri Jul 09, 2004 4:53 am

They renamed it due to another product that was in development as I recall. Actually, now that I think about it, I think that they changed the name from "Phoenix" to "Firefox" due to that reason. I can't remember why they replaced/renamed Firebird (i wasn't a devotee back then ).

I never said that it was "safe", I simply maintained that IE was the work of the devil!

One flaw against Mozilla Firefox versus, ummmmm. how many emergency double urgent security flaw updates needed for IE in 2004 alone.

There is no contest. Firefox wins hands down!

Good point Indy *grins smugly at Kimk* .

The sad part is that if malware authors are beginning to look beyond IE, it can only bode ill for all open source apps. Even programs such as Linux may now be targeted (more so I should say). Ah well, it was bound to happen. I was hoping that they would keep targeting IE until "Longhorn" is released with its new "security measures".
