Here I am in the Southern continent...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Here I am in the Southern continent...

...of bouncing rats, odd duck-like creatures and miniature bears. I'm just back from Germany, where I saw the world's Cuckoo-clock, which is 3 minutes slow, and we also went to the Europa park, a Disneyland clone, but nice nonetheless. Strasbourg is a very nice city, but there are too many Nigerians trying to sell knock-off watches for 5 Euros and Romanian beggars for my tastes... well, the beggars were probably somewhat legitimate, but the Nigerians all had identical merchandise, which was probably stolen. The German trip was fun on the whole, on the 4 days out of the week that we didn't spend on coach, at least. Aaanways, here I am, in a place called Cardwell (near the probably more well-known Hitchinbrook Island), where my family and I have just learned that we're not actually allowed in the sea, due to sharks, which I'm pretty sure are about as dangerous as dead squirrels, but there are apparently salt-water crocodiles here, which are probably a cause for concern even though the last one was apparently seen in March...
Well, Australia has many subtle differences to Northern Ireland, such as...
Here, we see your average, run-of-the-mill Coco Pops monkey:

Here we see the Australian version:

These are indeed strange times... although you guys should really see what they did to Snap, Crackle and Pop, their official mascot of "Rice Bubbles".

They also have 600ml Coke bottles here (500ml in Ireland), and all their wrappers are different.
Well, I'm staying here for two weeks... I doubt I'll be using the internet (dial-up, $6 an hour grr..) here that much, probably just 2 or 3 more times this fortnight. Oh yes- and my souvenirs. I got a mug at the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, Kuranda, a boomerrang at Tjabukai Aboriginal Cultural Centre, and a cheap and ridiculous looking corked hat. A whole bunch of other stuff too.
Have a nice Summer!
Oh yeah, and how did France and England to lose Euro 2004?! 'Twas their own fault I suppose...
Anyhow, have a nice Summer!

Yeah all our cereal mascots look like beach going stoners. I believe it's what marketing types like to think is cool.

Wow, I know Australians are crazy, but putting a rabid-looking monkey on the front of a cereal box ?
That's an all time low ...

that monkey looks manic, he's been out in the bush for too long.

what's he saying, i wonder? I know what Coco says here in the civilised world, but in Oz his drug-addicted alcoholic cousin is prob saying "G'day kids, strewth these coco pops are bonzer, I wouldn't give a XXXX for anything else.."

Welcome to Australia! The land that good taste forgot!

I've never liked that "Cocoa-Pops" monkey; he looks shifty. Well, that and the fact that he is constantly beating up other cartoon characters who are trying to eat their cereal. He's almost as bad as that "Yogo" gorilla. Now HE is a right bastard .

Taw - You're right on the money there. Are you sure that you're not from Aus? *Stares at Taw suspiciously*

I told you once that I used to go out with a crackin Oz "Sheila," who taught me all about your phenomenally high cultural aspirations..

how much more paul hogan-esque patronizing are we aussies gonna get

I see packages from other countries and i thnk that they're really kcufed up. but im proud to be an aussie, and i dont care what taw says about our bonza stuff. even though it is funny. ...bonza! I have never heard anyone say that. but you go west from where i am and you hear words like stobie poles, cobber, eh?, four X, (an acronym of XXXX beer is Camels P***. or as we like to call it castlemaine kcuf. go DAAS!) and blimey.

but im just a crackpot from melbourne.

look, the only other international cultural icons you have are a nymphomaniac dwarf who lives in London along with about a 3rd of your population, and a stuffed kangaroo.

"g'day Skip, why what's the matter girl?"
"tk tk tkid tktrapped in tkabandoned tkmine tk tk.."
"d'you think she's trying to tell us something, Ded? mebbe we should take that wire out of her mouth.."
"nah son she likes it, the producer told me."

and i still haven't figured out why the helicopter had floats, afaik it never once landed on water, there being rather a shortage of that in the Kookawonga Desert National Park..

That monkey, that, that, oh i give up, i don't know, looks a bit, how you say?

Post Sun Jul 04, 2004 5:13 pm

we may be somewhat faceless to the international world, but we have our own sense of pride. That and only 65 shootings a year! (most of those being linked to the underworld) ive already gone on in another thread about our cars, and id crap on more with patriotic garbage until you'd be using recycled tissues.

But thats not the australian way.

Our way is to just kick back and relax and pitch in for a mate. Australia might be small population wise, but its still cool to live here. Really cheap too.
