Tawakalnism is NOT bankrupt (except that I haven't got any cash) but it is a vibrant and living force for renewal; millions of the oppressed and downtrodden look to the shining light of Tawakalnic socialism for their inspiration, encapsulating their aspirations and frustrations in the uplifting call to uprising that is the Internationale. its easy to amke up words too, has a great tune and makes everyone (except capitalist pigs) feel great. Besides I cant translate the Red Flag into Afrikaans.

Fire in Our Eyes

Time is on our side.
This generation of warriors
born and raised to fight
an ill made war.

We have fire in our eyes
And in our Souls

New expectations
Results. Mandatory.
Against a new generation

We have fire in our eyes
And in our Souls...

Never a black and white
moment. Too many variables.

Tawakalna

In a field of fire and ash.
Utopia lost.

Brashness unknown in the viewings of the world.
Sits upon a hollowed throne.
And cackles at the Utopia.

There is no Silicon Heaven! But where do all the calculators go ?

You could no more evade my wrath... than you could your own shadow!

The internationale, is this:

Arise ye workers [starvelings from your slumbers
Arise ye prisoners of want
For reason in revolt now thunders
And at last ends the age of cant.
Away with all your superstitions
Servile masses arise, arise
We'll change henceforth [forthwith the old tradition [conditions
And spurn the dust to win the prize.

So comrades, come rally
And the last fight let us face
The Internationale unites the human race.
So comrades, come rally
And the last fight let us face
The Internationale unites the human race.

No more deluded by reaction
On tyrants only we'll make war
The soldiers too will take strike action
They'll break ranks and fight no more
And if those cannibals keep trying
To sacrifice us to their pride
They soon shall hear the bullets flying
We'll shoot the generals on our own side.

(Chorus)

No saviour from on high delivers
No faith have we in prince or peer
Our own right hand the chains must shiver
Chains of hatred, greed and fear
E'er the thieves will out with their booty [give up their booty
And give to all a happier lot.
Each [those at the forge must do their duty
And we'll strike while the iron is hot.

(chorus)

What Taw posted was this:

No saviour from on high delivers
No faith have we in prince or peer
Our own right hand the chains must shiver
Chains of hatred, greed and fear
E'er the thieves will out with their booty
And give to all a happier lot.
Each at the forge must do their duty
And we'll strike while the iron is hot.

My own contribution would be the soviet national anthem, Because it inspires me. It gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it, for those of you willing to read, here are the words:

Unbreakable Union of freeborn Republics,
Great Russia has welded forever to stand.
Created in struggle by will of the people,
United and mighty, our Soviet land!
Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!

Through tempests the sunrays of freedom have cheered us,
Along the new path where great Lenin did lead.
To a righteous cause he raised up the peoples,
Inspired them to labor and valorous deed.
[Or, the old way:
Be true to the people, thus Stalin has reared us,
Inspire us to labor and valorous deed!

Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!

In the vict'ry of Communism's deathless ideal,
We see the future of our dear land.
And to her fluttering scarlet banner,
Selflessly true we always shall stand!

Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!

I don't want this thread about poetry turn into a discussion of politics, just because I posted this, I posted this because the words inspire me, NOT to bring out my message of revolution to the people, I have some ample pieces of poetry by myself, but I'd have to find em first and tranmslate em then.

btw. the texts were provided by a website called elmo's Linkage The music Files are off line so don't try to download them.
People that want the music to the latter can contact me at [email protected] and I'll guide em to a website with the music for the soviet anthem.

and they are inspiring. reading it all again, I'm actually quite moved all our old socialist anthems have cracking lines, such as, "though cowards flinch and traitors sneer, we'll keep the Red Flag flying here.." and tbh it's the uplifting nature of those anthems that often enables those of us still loyal to those values to keep going and remain steadfast in our beliefs during times of adversity for our cause.

I've always liked the classics such as;

I think that I shall never see,
My cataracts are blinding me.

lolololololol
Taw that translation of your, part of it is pretty good, but in some places you say the opposite of what it should say
Here's the translated pice translated back into english

NO, No Messiah can make life better
no calmness(confidence) can benefit us
Only we can throw of the chains
of hatred and avariciousness
misery and hunger comes to an end
the eartly thiefs have to disappear
Soldiers join strikes
war forever ended

A very rough translation, but thats basically what the translated piece you gave said

btw there is a huge difference between S.African and Afrikaans, Afrikaans is the language while S.African refers to anything from SA, thats why I thought it was written by a S.African poet
but I must say, the way you translated the poem, created a new poem, which is actually q stunning even tho I cant fully agree with it

damn esky, you beat me to the simpsons quote

might put up some of mine

Otherside
Just take your time
Your life is just beginning
You are all grown up
Wanting for the otherside.

Work in Progress
I'm thinking of you
And with nothing better to do
I sit and I stare
Immovable in my beanbag chair

I pick up a pen
and I think to no end
Nothing comes to mind
as if my feelings are undefined.

I realised this today
what a fool I was to play,
I sat on my ass without slowin'
writing som f***** stupid poem.

Darn, getting emotional, are we? Actually, after the Internationale, I'm feeling like posting sth like "Am Adolf hitler Platz", "70 Millionen, Ein Schlag", or "Alte Kamerade" just to make the balance

Wisdom comes with age. But sometimes age comes alone...
