just so i dont start a new thread i'll post the specs the pc guy gave me:

CPU: intel p4 2.8GHz 478 pin (800MHz) - 1MB cache

Motherboard: Albatron PX865PE Lite Pro SATA + LAN + 5.1 sound

RAM: Adata 512MB PC-3200 400MHz DDr DIMM

HDD Samsung 7200 3Yr 80 GB

CD-RW: 52x32x52

Case: MEC 420W

Sound card: on board (thats all it says)

Video card: Albatron FX5900XT 128MB

keyboard and mouse.

1 case fan

all for $2304 NZ but it'l be less cause im gonna dump the keyboard and mouse
cause i already have some.

$2304 NZ = 805 pounds
= $1471 US

I know its not the best pc in the world but im on a minimum wage job.

Is it a good deal or can i do better?

"Brushed" aluminium, Taw? How about anodised !

People! Remember that a good case is far more important than you might think. Anyone know why?

@D_R

Wouldn't your rather have a DVD than a CD/RW ... or are you really going to be burning CD's?

@Esqy

For proper cooling and grounding?

Also by building it yourself you will have a better understanding of how the hardware works. Then maybe your will remember to clean that thing out once in a while and not let those dust bunnies roam free.

dust bunnies.. like it. I found a phone in a printer recently (Star LC-100 9-pin dot matrix with a phone receiver inside, the printer had been sent back as "not working" well no wonder woth a bloody phone it! Didn't anyone notice a phone missing? oddly enough, when you took the phone out, it printed. I give up.
