I need help!

Ok I'm getting really freaked out by this, I can't get my computer to work, when I turn it on I get a blue screen that says something about a registry error, even when I start it with safe mode on. This happened when I had to force shut it down because it froze. Got any ideas on how to fix it?

ach! the blue screen of death strikes another innocent victim!

it would help if you say what version of Windows you have. can make quite a difference, you know

poor old Jag, ah well, like the man says, let us know what version of Windoze you have and a bit about your system specs and what may have happened prior to this happening, a bit of recent history of your pc would be useful. Then we might be able to do something for you.

if youve got Windows ME (like i do, poor unfortunate soul that i am ), then there's a way to start windows up without the registry. if you have ME, just tell me and i can talk you trhough it

and I'll laugh (ME - laughs) ffs Wind, why? it's total rubbish.

i've used Me for some 2 years. it was reasonably stable for me. imo 98 was more unstable. but the jump to xp was worthwhile imo. keeps my vigilance exercised.

I just switched from ME to XP Home on my computer. The speed plummeted and now it hates my JumpDrive (No Drivers Needed my eye!). Two Hundred Bucks gone.

Did you make any emergency disks from installation, or have an emergency boot disk?

Put your Harddrive as a slave in someone else's pc, copy the stuff you want to be saved and do the good old format... That always solves the problem for me

Yo I'm alittle calmed down now, I'll have to resort to other ways for entertainment(biking or my gamecube). Anyways I got WIndoze XP, don't know the specs or anything really, I just use it for my pleasure. Hopefully ways of fixing it don't require taking it apart, oh well. Why does the death screen even happen?

Post Fri Jun 25, 2004 6:54 pm

hmm m8, you should tell them waht you did before it happened...u downloaded something, instaled something...or you just went to site you should not have ...or opened one of those nice little attachments u get in your mail

Oh trust me I stay away from porn sites(YEAH RIGHT!) and junk mail. Th eonly thing I had downloaded before this was a flash movie, then my comp. froze when I went into the documents where I had it and I had to force shutdown.

Post Fri Jun 25, 2004 9:21 pm

That could've been the problem. You're using XP, right? I've had this happen to me before. I'm not sure what causes it. Maybe a virus, but I doubt it. Unfortunately, because of the nature of this particular problem, you can't use System Restore. The only solution I have found, is to reinstall Windows. That was the only way to fix the problem for me. You shouldn't have to reformat your harddrive, in fact I recommend AGAINST formatting unless you have no other choice, but that's an EXTREME measure. Just a simple reinstalling of Windows should do the trick.
