Deus Ex and other Spector work

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Deus Ex and other Spector work

Hey have you guys noticed that whenever that Spector guy managed *not* to stir up any hype he makes a truly great game. I mean, maybe im wrong here but Deus Ex is one of the most enjoyable games I have played in a while. Though I hadnt even heard a word about it until after its release, and still I sat in my concrete bunker being washed over by rave reviews and nearly a year after release, found it in a bargain-bin for 7 bucks (This is exactly how I got to know my old friend Homeworld) I have noticed this unhealthy trend where he and his team never make a truly ground-breaking, awesome, perfect masterpiece when the game is hyped. Maybe its because publishers rush it? I wouldnt know, in any case I have noticed that any game that is horridly hyped thats happened to been done by this studio (DE2, Thief 3 for now) have been under everyones expectations. Hype makes great games and best-sellers (even some that dont deserve it occasionally, black & white anyone?) I still do think its had its finger in several ruined games. soooo to hype or not to hype?

It's not hype, It's "XBox" and Microsoft making Spector tune it down for their crappy engine.

Most people I've spoken to about Thief 3 have said it's very good. Unfortunately it's a little strict on the system requirements and I can't run it yet
I think the only disappointment that Spector has caused was DX:IW, and I seriously doubt that the hype caused was the main factor in that. IIRC there were some staff problems during the production of the game? That would be far more disruptive.

The engine in DE2 and Thief 3 is pretty damn average. *Shakes head* Add AA and/or AF, and you'll get an unplayable choppy game. Ugh.
