Clashing of priorities

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Clashing of priorities

Well, we got two pc's, lets say main and little
two weeks ago we installed Privateer on the little one, got to use a crappy small joystick. Thursday night we installed WC Prophecy on the same pc, luckily the USB joystick works on this one. All fine, the only prob, is hwich game to play.
But now my dad got WC 2 working on the main pc(doesnt work i\on small pc) Now the USB joustick had to move to main pc, just as I wanted to play Prophecy
This aint gonna work maybe we should get another joystick

Unfortunately WC2 hs no sound, doesnt pick up extended/expanded memory aigh

Now I got a further prob, i want to play all three games and I got exams everyday next week, this is not good really not good

Goodbye is such a little word and yet it brings such pain to think; we were best friends once and we'll never meet again
Forum Systems A must read

I've gone through the same dilemma many a time sw, but you know what you should really be doing despite your duty to Confed.

Post Sat Jun 19, 2004 1:30 am

Oh the dilemma istn with to study or not to study, that prob is already solved, and guess what won

choices, choices, choices - but Privateer is the best of those 3 (they're all good) Prophecy will give you least trouble as it's Windows-native. unless you (or your dad) are proficient at getting something like DOSbox configured properly for EMS (expanded) which WC dos games require, you won't be getting any sound. and your sound card needs to emulate SB/SB16/SB Pro or those other soundcards of that generation.

if you haven't got and don't want to attempt that level of proficiency, play WC2 on your DOS-capable machine, either from a dos-prompt or better still imo, a bootdisk. same goes for Privateer.

of course you get a copy of Kilrathi Saga which allows you to play WC1,2,3 all in Windoze. No Priv or Spec Ops or Armada though.

Well, its run by DosBox, on winXp pc
at this stage(only gotit started a few mins ago) it goes only to a certain point and then we get thrown out (WC2 that is)
ow well, the prob will get solved eventually, otherwise I'll just go back to playin privateer which is working perfectly

Edit- Taw where do you get Kilrathi saga?
Edit2 nm found it
edit 3 ouch about 7 hours to dl

You can probabily buy an old PC for about 30 quid these days, and that would run the games for you without a hitch, and with sound. Check out your local second hand paper for people getting rid of junk, or ask at a local school if they have any really old/archaic pc equipment that they don't need.........as they might let you have it for a small donation to school coffers

"you know what you should really be doing despite your duty to Confed"

weakling human! A Kilrathi only studies the art of war; from the lowest Kilra'hra to the noblest Thrak'hra, all the hrai seek to serve Sivar and the Emperor through victory, skabak, or tagugar. the Temblor bomb was the work of cowards.

sw, did you know there's a cheat for WC that gets you in Kilrathi ships for the simulator? other than that the only way afaik to get in Kilrathi ships is to play WC:Armada, which is also excellent (but DOS again) or play FL mods.

Post Sat Jun 19, 2004 6:00 am

no i didnt know, got to search for armada, but that will only be in bout 2 hrs when the other one has finished it's dl

but yea, now I got too many games too play you'd say I have nothing else to do maybe I should drop school and go into gaming

But it is fun killing maniac

you don't kill Maniac! you keep him alive and get WC4 and wait till Decker floors him - that was one of the great WC moments when D kicks the stuffing out of him if you choose to let him do so.

Post Sat Jun 19, 2004 6:11 am

I aleady did, I just had to
OUr WC4 cd's are damaged
That also available somewhere for dl?

Post Sat Jun 19, 2004 6:41 am

you're dling KS? sacrilege, you should pay an extortionate amount for a mint unused copy on Ebuy then never ever take it out of its box but just keep it on display on a shelf to lord it over your peon friends.

err not that I ever do that...

Post Sat Jun 19, 2004 6:46 am

why?
I'm not gonna pay if you can dl it for free

I should mention that there is a "Hi Res" patch for WC5. It allows you to play the game at higher resolutions (obviously), such as 1280x960. If the old PC can handle it, I recommend it.

thats the D3D patch that puts the lens flares and visual fogging in?

Post Mon Jun 21, 2004 3:21 am

It could be. It's unofficial patch and I picked it up from WCNews a while ago.
