Favourite Final Fantasy Game ?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Favourite Final Fantasy Game ?

What was your favourite FF game from the series ( the 3D series, from 7 up )

I prefer FF7 over the lot . The Monsters-Boss-Rest/Interact system always seemed to work well togeather, and the storyline was the best one I've seen in a game ! The materia system wasn't overtly complicated, so it was easy to get into, but tough to master (to a point). Ultima (The "mega" spell of the FF series) was just powerful enough, but not ultra-powerful like in FF8, when all you had to do is throw the spell a couple of times and then the boss was dead. The climax was totally unexpected , and Sephiroth was the most brilliant boss character of the series, with his "emotionless" acting, and Cloud's past, it made a brilliant story.

FF8 was crap, basically. Technology + Magic = Crap in my opinion. The main character (Squall) was the most unexpressive bloke I've ever seen, and the love interest (Rinoa) was pathetic. As mentioned above, Ultima was overpowered and the bosses were very easy to beat. The GF System was stupid, and those with the proper knowledge (like me) could power-level squall's gunblade into a Strength 255 + weapon in 1-2 hours +. The limit breaks were unbalanced, and the storyline (plainly) sucked. "Witchs" and "Ultamicia" anyone ?. A dissapointing sequal indeed. The graphics and sound were improved from FF7 though ......

FF9 is a tough one. In one sense, it was quite childish in the storyline, but the storyline was a nice change from the "save the world" scenario in FF7 and FF8, and Steiner and the rest of the gangs past's were filled in nicely. The graphics were a mix of FF8 and FF7, with just the right mixture in it to avoid FF8's "sour" look, but enough to avoid the "Industrial" (is that the right word ?) look of FF7. The Item-Learning abilities were nice, but was always a bit annoying to have to equip low-level items to get a certain ability you want. Second best in the series.

FF10 has the best graphics of the lot (due to the PS2 upgrade), but the storyline was off-par with the characters (Apart from Auron, ninjas are always good in my opinion ... ), like Yuna, who, despite being the main focus of both love and story, spoke very rarely and always in a "weak" tone that made her seen the underdog of the party. Third best in the series .......

FF10-X has got the Graphics of FF10, but the Childish story of FF9. The three main characters were usually good, but the airship crew ("Brother" in particular) all acted like last-minute add-ons. Fourth best in the series I'd say .....

What do you guys think ?

I think that I wish that I'd played ANY of them. I just haven't seen them around.

My favorite is Final Fantasy VIII (8) hands down. My second favorite is final fantasy 7. But 8 is cool because i love the card game, i am the master of games! You can even print the cards off the internet and then put them on cardboard and play the game real like. I did that and i play with my friends in school all the time. I like final fantasy 7 because of the materia, it is cool.

I haven't played ANY of them, and prob never will. Just doesn't appeal. The dreadful film killed any latent desire to have a peek at the games.

The only FF game WORTH playing is FF3J

The rest can burn in hell

Final Fantasy VII(7) is without a doubt the best one of the series imo. The story was great, the characters were interesting and I actually enjoyed learning about their past. I played FF8 and I uninstalled after 20 minutes I was so bored.

People have it all wrong these days, instead of discriminating and hating others for being black or ugly, we should practise fairness and hate every living thing equally.

The original is still the best.

People like graphics, but ff3 US version, is the best in story line, ecetera. If you go for graphics, VIII is the best, but was hard to play with a controler and keyboard combo.

FFVIII is the best....FFX is second, than again I cants ay much, these 2 are only ones I played

but the best game that fits FF category....Legend of Dragoon

VII h@5 t0 b3 th@ gr3@t35t!!! and ill stop the 1337 talk. VIII was a bit too far from what final fantasy really is. i mean, drawing magic from enemies??? bah.
(although i have to admit the cards were cool. behold the fact i own all the cards!!! w00t!)
X was cool too. no. 2 on the list.

An interesting set of opinions .......
I'm suprised that so many people like FF8, even though there was no storyline as such, and the main character sucked .

Esq, go to a video rental place and see if you can find it, you'll find them eventually.
Taw, don't let the film turn you off the games, Square "Films" are now disbanded, and it was the first time that square had tried to do a technology-only world, and it sucked as a result. The games are technology/fantasy, and have a much better feel to them than the film. Hell, FF7 kept me up for 2 days straight, but it took me a week to finish it, it was that good !

Im in the same boat with Taw (Oh dear god!!), never played any of them and probably never will, they just look cheesy.

I'm with Taw and Mustang. The movie ruined it, imho.

Only one I've really played is FFX. So, I have to say it's my fave.

The movie, to me, was just that, a movie. It was well done in the CG department, with good actors for the voices and resonable voice/mouth movements. But other than the name, It did not seem to me to have any connections to the game series. The detail in it was superb. The story could have been a little better, but as it was truly the first of its kind, it was good. Most of the good graphics in the games were in the cut secnes. I just hope they come out with another for the computer, that is not a on-line only type. That was a diapointment.
