I was just deliberating this question, in all your gaming experience, all the RPGs you've ever played (people who havent played any excluded) what do you like more? Action RPG, where you grab a weapon or spell and destroy massive swathes of monsters, or one of those RPG's like fallout, where combat is only a fraction of the game, and the rest is based more on npc interaction, questing uncovering the story and whatnot. Personally, im more in favor of action-rpg's, simply because they are more exciting to play, things like huge armies of demons that you saw in half in a few passes always gets to me
(ala Diablo II). But then there are games like Arcanum and Neverwinter Nights which are also fun, but I still prefer the action oriented games. Strangely enough, there has never been a marriage of the two, a in-depth, story based rpg, with blazing fast combat, its quite strange. It seems as if though pc game development is always stuck on 2 extremes, action/roleplaying or arcade/simulation. Anyhow, whats your favorite type of RPG?
