Why?

Why are people so afraid of crickets? I mean in school, if there is a cricket in the class, everybody(or most of everybody) runs to the other side of the room. I cant understand this, I mean the thing is s much smaller than you, it can't do anything to you, so why are you afraid of it?

I have a pathologicol fear of moths, not the small ones, but those big ones that make that fluttering sound when they're airborne. The scare the living piss out of me, I'm getting the heebies just thinking about them.

I don't mind crickets, and I like cicadas. However, I strongly dislike cockroaches; filthy little bastards.

Mustang - That's interesting. Do you have any idea why that might be the case?

Post Sun Jun 13, 2004 12:04 am

Crickets? Ha! My friend in Primary used to freeze them and bring them to school in pieces for the local ants to eat at lunch, when they were in a frenzy because of the heat. Good times.

People have it all wrong these days, instead of discriminating and hating others for being black or ugly, we should practise fairness and hate every living thing equally.

Not exactly sure why Eskie, definately something to do with them being airborne though.

i really hate spiders even small ones scare me

I think spiders are kinda cool in a way, annoying but I did do some research on them a long time ago and think their really cool. I cant imagine anything in this world i H-A-T-E more than cockroaches, I hate those so much you know, their filthy disgusting little bastards and the pieces of crap can run so goddamn fast. 2 more things I cant stand is those big big fat black things that sound like a ****ing helicopter when their flying along, their somewhat fast but their really big and loud most of the time, I really hate those. I also hate stupid dragonflies, they dont bite or anything but I hate them so much. None of them truly "Scare" me per se, but they do startle me, ya know for example if im walking along and one of those huge black things flies right out in front of me ill get scared ****less for a few minutes but then Ill just avoid it. Another thing is that im totally not afraid of bees, you guys know that a bees stinger cant puncture through the bottom of your heel? (bare heel). When I was younger (alot younger) I would grab em and let em sting me in the bottom of my bare heel and it wouldnt do anything. Oh and I dont find them stinging that bad either unless its a critical point like an eye or near the lip, i dont know why people are so scared of them, though i do know alot of people that are.

PS: I actually had a friend, who got stung by a bee just half an inch behind his testicles he walked so funny like a cripple just funnier.

phobic weirdos, how can you be pathologically afraid of something thats a tousand times smaller than you? Mrs Taw has a pathological fear of spiders, butterflies, moths, bees, wasps and it isn't funny it's bloody annoying to have to go hunting for tiny insects and dispose of them before she'll calm down.

my pathological fear is snakes, to wit, poisonous ones. q a sensible phobia seeing as they aren't exactly common in Wolstanton. never been keen on em and there was a really scary picture of one in my children's encyclopaedia when I was a kid, but what finally pushed me over the edge was one time when we were docked at Zanzibar, and me and some lads went on shore leave and were walking to Stone Town (thats the old bit of Zanzibar) and as we were walking under the trees, I noticed that the branches were covered in vines and the vines were moving... then a f***ing enormous black mamba dropped on the floor right in front of me, then another and another. I ran back to the ship faster than I'd ever run in me life, I'd have beaten Roger Bannister on that day. euuurrrghh 'kin hate snakes.

now you see thats a sensible fear derived from experience. but moths? does that mean you won't have honeysuckle in your garden then?

..the Devil will find work for idle hands to do; i stole and I lied, and why? because you asked me to..

Lol, I thought you were talking about the sport cricket
For some reason I'm horrified by wasps. I can't stand those pesky critters!
Same goes for mosquitos. Blegh!

Neo they will do it even if we dont have lessons, and no I'm not part of the group, I'll either sit/stand there and laugh at them or I'll catch the cricket and take it to a safer place.

Spiders can be cool, as long as they dont start walking on me, we actually talked bout it the other day, having Tatantulas as pets, but not small ones, about as high as a dog. i can just imagine the reaction if you have visitors and this big spider marches by

As for snakes...I used to be afraid of them, now I'll just treat them with respext, while we were living in the Feestate we saw lots of them, and when we were living on the farm a couple of months ago

Post Sun Jun 13, 2004 2:00 am

Some people have good reason to fear bees, i.e those who are allergic and can sometimes die if they aren't treated in time.

People have it all wrong these days, instead of discriminating and hating others for being black or ugly, we should practise fairness and hate every living thing equally.

Post Sun Jun 13, 2004 2:20 am

i know trantulas are big.. but do they get as big as dogs? that'd be so awesome. i want one.

as for crickets, i used to go hunting them with coupla friends. i like ants though. they tickle.

cockroaches are annoying. damn things are so resistant to nearly anything. i got so pissed i applyed teh old fashioned method.. the paper. the thing splattered its eggs all over the floor, and i got more pissed.
