"sounds" to me like you've been fiddling again, AoD, but never mind eh, it's not a crisis.
quickest solution, without going into long explanations of what you've done. Uninstall the Creative driver suite and before rebooting, remove the device from devoce manager. Have your SB install cd ready for re-installation. Reboot and let XP pick up the device and choose the driver form the cd itself, don't re-install the Creative.
these type of conflicts are not uncommon since Xp has its own drivers for s/cards and of course the manuf supplies one with the card too. Buggering about often causes conflict between these two sets of drivers. However there can be version conflicts too. Have you recently done an update from MS? there are usually updated MS drivers for h/ware in the update lists, when I had an Nvidia some months ago, the up[dated MS drivers were forever throwing the Nvidia ones out.
did you know having girl sigs when you're not a girl can cause hardware problems?
and thank you for asking, I feel a lot better but I'm still off work for a few weeks until my meds are finished and the sawbones is happy my heart rate and b/p are under control.
..the Devil will find work for idle hands to do; i stole and I lied, and why? because you asked me to..
