it's really not so difficult. such a good film; it's being re-released you know. the original release was kyboshed by 9/11, a film in which almost the first event involves an airliner falling to bits wasn't exactly appropriate for theatrical release at that time.

what exactly is it that confuses you? I've watched this film over and over, and I've got the directors commentary on DvD so the odd bit I didnt quite get I was able to get an explanation for.

fav bit? Patrick Swayze getting found out, I was not expecting that and I p*st myself laughing..

well whos the bunny and what did it tell him about the last day of october or something? Yeah I agree it did look like a really good film, I may want to get it on DVD. Also, what was that about time travel and if I heard correctly something about "Gods Channel" I also remember the part in the theater where the rabbit tells him to "get out of the stupid human suit" whats all that about?

PS: My favorite scene is when hes talking in the auditorium to swayze heheh, "I think your the ****ing anti-christ"

Frank the Rabbit is a messenger from the future, to guide Donnie through the things he needs to do to repair the alternate future that's been created. Ok he's also Donnie's sister's boyfriend, but Donnie shoots him after drunk human Frank runs over Gretchen and kills her. From the moment the jet engine lands on Donnies house to the moment it land again (and kills him) nothing is "real" its an alternate reality that Donnie has to put right, but in the process he gets to change a few things. His conversations with Gretchen tell you this.

God's channel. meaning the "right" path, the "correct" timeline. see above.

"human suit" - Donnie actually is a superhero! he isn't just shining up Gretchen, he's given abilities by whatever "powers" sent Rabbit Frank from the future. That's how DD is able to wrench the jet engine into the correct time "tunnel" and put time right. That's also how he knows Frank isn't really a rabbit.

I appreciate it can be a difficult film to grasp, it's not your normal teen superhero adventure by any means. I recommend you try out the user comments board for Donnie Darko at IMDB
