This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Geez guys, don't you think you're over-reacting?
If you go into hospital for a long stay you have a wristband and a clipboard of notes on the end of your bed detailing all the important info about you anyway. Having a bunch of lines on your wristband isn't that bad! It's not some sort of Orwellian dystopia where you have a barcode tattooed onto you, and Final, how on Earth do you think they're going to track you, and what for? Firstly it really is a bunch of lines on a piece of plastic so I don't see how that could be used to track your whereabouts, and secondly, once you're finished in the hospital, you cut the band off and walk away.
This just helps confirm who you are, the reader will check your information in its database and dole out the drugs prescribed by the doctor. It's a fairly simple system, tried and tested in supermarkets for at least the last 20 years, and it should help make patient treatment safer and more efficient. If the barcode reader fails then the nurse can access your database using your name and date of birth on the wristband.

what if the computers get hacked? what if the software is full of bugs and balls ups the records linked to the barcodes and dispenses all the wrong stuff? what if something gets implanted in you when you go to have these barcodes put on? (sub-dermal electronic implants are already exist anyway)

there isnt nothing religious in my objection, i just think its awfully risky putting lives in the hands of machines and the technology could so easily be misused by the authorities. Could? it's a racing cert it will, cos it will all be tied in with the Govts new identity card scheme.

it's coming time for a Butlerian jihad.

..sweetness, sweetness, I was only joking when I said by rights you should be bludgeoned in your bed..

Butlerian jihad.

whats that in english?
and this barcode thingy.. yeah, the could get hacked. sure nasa could get hacked. but the astronauts are still strapping themselves in and trusting the comps. every comp can get hacked. if you want privacy and all that, wait till they start printing barcodes on your passport ( or do they already do that? )

and is that metal i smell?

@Recusant, yes the plastic barcode can be removed, but the theroy behind it, is what concerns me. Barcodes can be used for a lot of information. In Georgia, when you get a new drivers license, they take a thumb print and incode that with other info to a complex barcode typr print that is put on the back side of the license. That is a bit more why it concerns me.

Rec - We're paranoid, and Taw's a Luddite, so no, we aren't over-reacting . Still, you must admit that it is possible that such a scheme could be misused, or even exploited by some people.

Final - *Sniff* My first "ROTFLMAO". You wait for the day for so long and then, when it comes, you don't know what to say...
