Ronald Reagan Dies at 93

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

'tis the art of the polemicist, Mr. Lordier to put only one side of the argument, but put it well.. still it's only Ronald Raygun, it's not like it was anyone important.

laud a man who had hundreds of US air traffic controllers arrested and jailed without charge, pre-trial, because they exercised their legitimate right to go on strike for better pay and conditions? get real. Federal employees; I do believe you're a Federal employee too? I would have thought you'd be dancing on his grave..

Ask yourself a question, if he wasn't that important, why is it most of the world even takes notice of his passing?

My only intent (as usual) is to point out there is three sides to every story, yours theirs and the facts. As eloquent as some may be at communicating their thoughts, it doesn't make it any closer to truth. It's impossible for me to conceive of dancing on anyone's grave. The very idea repuses me. That sort of evil has no place in my life and I'm conformtable with that.

In the "oh, by the way" dept. there's more to the story of the ATC's than that, much more in fact. But I digrese, it's just not worth it in this forum. I have personal experience of the event I simply choose not to share, that's all.

Reagan's legacy will be different for different people. But for every extreme there is a complete and opposite flip-side...always has been.

well why don't you tell me by email then, cos that issue with the ATCs pretty much destroyed Raygun's credibility in my eyes (not that he ever had much anyway )

as far as his passing is concerned, well isn't that just part of the way the West and America in particular marks the passing of former leaders? ffs they even tried to pass Nixon off as some sort of "elder statesman" but that failed miserably. I'm sure the only people who actually will mourn for him are his family and close friends, not that he had many of those after the McCarthy trials. I certainly don't mourn his passing one bit, although I do feel sorry for his struggle with Alzheimer's. And when Thatcher dies, i really will be dancing on her grave, the evil old bag.

Even before he was president, he turned California's economy around. Good enough for 2 terms in office. The mn did better than most. And of the last several presidents from Carter to present, he drew the most respect.

You done good Ron.

As to the air traffic controllers, it was in the contract, I think, they were not allowed to strike, it was as if they walked off the job, thereby quiting. And endangering the flying public.

he was the one who ended the rhein of liberal presidents and marked the change of where the word liberial was taken as a negative conotation. He was pretty much the first to support big buisness over the people, by giving large tax breaks to them to even giving government funding to them inplace of the previous govenment funding to education, redevelopment, and various social programs designated to improve lives of poor people. In other words he symbolized the change of government programs to stop poverty and improve the poor to provide more money to big buisnesses, which has paved the way for future presidents policies. By him companies like Enron were able to become what they became, and can even be seen with bush's various policies which target helping the companies which fund his campain. Regan's presedency was a major turning point in policies and politics, it is up to you to decide whether it was either good or bad.

Can't really have the death of a political figure without a political discussion I guess. I might have let this go if we had just talked about Ronnie's politics but....*click*
