so, FD, what are you going to do about it?

what negative rubbish. I used to think like that, and all it achieves is just to reinforce that negative view. if a misanthropic social cripple like me can get a mrs and keep her for nearly 16 years despite loads of sh*t happening in that time, then you certainly can.

when I met the future Mrs Taw, i was living in an unfurnished unheated rented flat in one of the roughest parts of town, i was out-of-work, on anti-depressants, coping with coming off a cocaine addiction, a few months out of gaol, going through the divorce from hell, borassic flint*, and surviving off charity from friends and work on the side.

*= skint

and despite my far from appealing situation, i already had the albatross of my anti-social personality and almost complete negativity about everything and painful shyness (except when it came to complaining) yet I managed to drop on.

so i don't think you've lost hope, far from it

i had a dream a bit like that the other night fd.

Doesn't sound to complicated to me. Take a few weeks off work and drive your arse down to Texas. Say your taking some vacation time down that way and you'd like to drop on by, would that be okay? If she doesn't turn out to be the girl of your dreams, you can move on with your life. If however she does turn out to be THE girl..... Don't let your fears stopp you from finding out though fd, you'll be kicking yourself at the end of the day. Afterall, who wouldn't love the beard!

that's SO not a problem. people can continue relationships from opposite sides of the world, esp now with the interweb. how far is it, about 700miles or so? if the feelings are there then distance is no object, and as you're both religious types, neither of you have to worry about infidelity etc.

I thought you were laying the "I've got nobody" on a bit thick, so it doesn't altogether surprise me that in fact you do have someone but there's a problem. but it's only distance, I mean if she was already married that would be a problem, but just a couple of states away? that's nothing. He who dares wins, my friend, and what have you got to lose?

@Fd

I was talking to Vi. I know your situation is not the same.

Also, I then posted another response which was off base because I didn't see
your post about praying and the responses that were made to it so I just deleted that one.

I think you need to put more of your faith into your own hands. In other words, don't pray for a wife. Pray to give yourself the wherewithal to find and marry a good woman. And by wherewithal, I mean the gumption, heart, wits, alertness, fluency, etc., not winning the lottery or anything.

If it means going to Texas, go to Texas but it has to be YOU. By praying for a wife, you're asking someone else to do the work for you. You have to do it for yourself.

I never want a quick fix. It never works, and it is unsatisfying to know that i didn't do anything to earn it. praying wont help me. i turned my back on god a long time ago. (sorry about the religion, mods)
