The Skipper's name was Jonas Grumby, and the Professor's name was Roy Hinkley. The same guy made Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch. If you pay attention to the second Brady Bunch movie Rob Lowe plays the mom's ex husband Roy and they say he was lost on a desert island. So maybe the Professor didn't hook up with Ginger or Mary Ann because he didn't want to cheat on his wife.
