A good gigabyte motherboard

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

It's supposed to have a "safety feature" that prevents it from going too far. Still, I guess that experimentation is the way to go.

ok now i need some advice on Brands of memory which is better?

Post Sat Jun 12, 2004 8:04 pm

I swear by Corsair RAM, gets the thumbs up from most who use it. I haven't heard of anyone whose had a dodgy stick yet.

ok well is it combatible with gigabyte boards?

Post Sat Jun 12, 2004 8:32 pm

Don't worry about compatability, you can stick RAM in any board wihtout grief.

Corsair is the best, but it is expensive. Therefore, it depends upon how much you want to spend.

I use Corsair because its very reliable, decent quality. But I was thinking of Geil's Golden Dragon or OCZ's Enhanced Latency and Bandwidth series. wodjoo fink?

..the Devil will find work for idle hands to do; i stole and I lied, and why? because you asked me to..

Geil are ok, but OCZ are seem to be getting better with every generation of RAM they produce. Still, I hardly ever see OCZ (and never Geil) RAM here in Aus., so I don't know from personal experience.

that's very odd, seeing as you're near the SE Asian manufacturing centres (well nearer than us) so what makes of memory do you generally get? I bet you get a lot of unbranded generic stuff..

Oh yeah, LOTS of generic stuff. PQI anyone? I would get Corsair personally (and I will when I need to upgrade), but I am currently using Kingston. Kingston is good, but the performance isn't the same as Corsair. As for Geil, I cannot recall ever seeing it advertised here in Victoria. Regarding OCZ, I think that I know one store that sells it, but that's about it.

PQI, heheheh. so that's really good quality then.. (j/k)

I wouldn't put that in any of my pcs. I might put it in the pc of someone I didnt like, though.

edit - just found out that I can get GeIL and OCZ locally at nearly 20% off the retail price, only for myself though, so I will be having a little trip out later.

I know you can get Geil in Aus, probably need to special order it though. Most performance hardware shops I know only do Corsair.

actually it's 25%, I just didn't want to torture you too much, then I changed my mind and decided to make you even more annoyed blimey, if i paid retail I'd have to pay 17.5% VAT <shudder> something I avoid whenever possible.
