2 things..

1. that's not from the BBC so how can it class as TLR "news?"

and now back OT; hardly surprising is it, the Xbox already is a stripped down pc, essentially. I said 25 yrs ago that computers, gaming consoles and tvs would one day all be integrated into one package, and that was when pcs were little boxes run by tapes and consoles were "Pong" - once again I saw the future and once again I was right.

Well I don't like it; I don't want a machine that plays games and that's all. I want to be able to do more with a computer (that way I can justify spending insane amounts on it ). Besides, what about the customisability factor? I like being able to swap components in and out. Could you do that with the theoretical "XBOX III"? I doubt it.

actually I don't like it either, but it is inevitable.

Meh, Im getting pretty bloody sick of spending thousands on upgrades. I'm starting to feel open to suggestions.

The fact is we have this already. Just not integrated.

Unfortunatly all of these games are terrible... TS and DX:IW anyone?

I see all of this as MS chafing at the Intel monopoly.... how ironic..... So they want to migrate as much of their revenue stream away from WIntel production as possible.

As for this, I worry about security issues. Is this really something to take online?

it kinda takes the thrill out of upgrading the PC...and the thrill of having a console....hell i hatwe the idea...cause sadly it may make it impossible to mod GAMES!!!!!!...(quivers at the thought)....

course, it would be a great movement in the way to push newer crappier games to the masses who will be desperatly craving a new game after a few weeks when the old one gets boring....marketing masterpiece.....but crappy on our part....jsut another gates MONOPOLY....that rat bastard...(hides from the hails of lightning.)

TV's can only run at low resoloution anyway, so people would only turn back to PC's for more detail.
Look at the predicted beauty of HL2 on the PC, then look at the predicted crap graphics on the XBox.
Micro$oft just want to make some money, that's all.

With standard CRTs perhaps, but mate a plasma TV to a console, and I think that you would probably be impressed Neo.

i have one of those HD tvs...and the graphics when i shoot my comp over to it are not as good as my CRT, but they are better than the PS2....but you are right it is just another marketing ploy. Computer gaming is truely where it is casue of the better graphics and the abilities to modify the games in almost any way you see fit ....i am an avid PS2 gamer....but i would challenge a console company to be able to allow console gamers the chance to MOD a game on their platfor like we can on the PC!!!!
