Fire Destroys Saatchi Collection Paintings & More

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Fire Destroys Saatchi Collection Paintings & More

Wow,

Just saw a note that a warehouse in London owned by Momart, a fine arts storage specialty company was burnt down. The BM and Tate also used Momart space.

I wonder how bad it really is. Police are investigating cause.

An art hater perhaps? Any links for us, Ed?

Some of the destroyed "artwork" included:

A blue beach hut
A painting made with some cows dung (painting was incredibly un-artwork - just background and rings on the picture)
A tent with the names of the sexual partners of the "artist" taped to the insides of it.

No offense, but since most were 'tate' ones - they are debateable as art anyways. The beach hut (it really is just a tatty blue garden shed - no more, no less, nothing added, nothing taken away) and a tent with your bed friends names on......i would hardly call the priceless. Those can be replaced for little or no cost! Okay - some were possibly art, but another was basically a "warhammer" like scene of figures depicting a scene of nazi's totureing soldiers and stuff from the war etc.

Hmph. So it wasn't art, but just "art", eh? *Rolls eyes* Sounds like a shattering blow to the British artistic community.

Yes but what wasn't indicated is what the British Museum had stored there AND the Tate (which by the way has all those wonderful Impressionists you mentioned, ff). I am well aware of the artistic peculiarities of the Saatchi collection.

And yes, the "stench" wafted across the Atlantic and tickled my olfactory nerves, hence the post.

@Esqy: NY Times. I've decided not to bother with the copy and paste. Do you want me to go back to it?
