AlienWare

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I agree that computers that you build your self are the best, but the thing is will I be able to get my parents to buy a PC like that. They think the company does it the best, so me building my own wont happen utnill I am able to buy it my self . I dont know if I will be ablr to get allienware either, as it seems you have to purchase it over internet, and they dont like to buy nothing over it .

O, just remembered, AlienWare has an option where you can make your own PC, will check it out and see how much is the price

HOLY ****!!

Just costumized one of their PC, put in all the best things from the list...and price was nice at $5k, way over my budget

@Leon.

Ah. So your budget IS limited after all.

If your parents are ruling the roost on your choices, try looking at Gateway. They have a line of gaming oriented computers that are very much more affordable than Alienware. ALSO, they, unlike Dell and HP make theirs with all non-proprietary industry standard parts so that you can upgrade as freely as possible. (This, of course begs the question and point that Taw has been raising about a build your own )

You should find something priced in a range of ffrom $2000 to $2500 or so. You can get AMD 64 bit based gaming PCs from Gateway. Again, you can custom configure but there are costs involved.

Also, Gateway sells both ways, on-line and through stores in some states.

aren't Gateway in serious trouble at the moment?

..how I dearly wish I was not here..

Well, they just bought e-Machines Don't know what that means financially.

I have heard that they have not been in the best of financial shapes but I guess the question really boils down to how much technical support Leon is going to need. Recently, they have done better as consumper buying here has ticked up again.

If he is fairly self sufficient with his equipment, if he gets the goods delivered in good shape (or picks them up in good shape) how much more Gateway support will he need?

Weird that this tread should appear, I'm buying a Voodoo tonight! Its a laptop (I move around a lot, so I do ACTUALLY need the laptop), specifially the M:360. Sounds like it'll run just about anything just fine!

*Shakes head* Fine, don't listen to me. Go ahead and buy a pre-built PC. They won't be as good (or as cheap), and I'll be flying past you in terms of performance with my custom-built "dream machine" .

Esqy,

Some of us have a Mom and Dad who are controlling how the money is spent. THEY in Leon's case won't let him build one.

Post Tue May 25, 2004 4:17 pm

Maybe so Indy, but I ALSO imagine that they would want to get the best value for money. Hence, a PC built at home with no labour charges would be preferable. Of course, if they don't wish to, or don't have the skills necessary to build a PC, then that's a different story.

So.... did you get it? *asks with shade of envy in voice*
