Iter to be built in France?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Iter to be built in France?

There is an interesting article up at Final's favourite news site (BBC) about Iter (the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor), and whether or not it will be built in Japan or France. Either way, it appears that a "true" fusion reactor is going to be a reality within the next few years. The article also contains other information, such as the expected power output of the reactor which, with one kilogram of "fusion fuel", will output the same amount of energy as ten million kilograms of fossil fuel.

Ugh, I hate it. Why the hell would I need something like that? *Shakes head* All it needs is an RFID chip, and we''ll have as good ole' Orwellian time .

Oy Taw! That deseverves its own thread. Stop hijacking mine!

On topic - Esq, do you think any good or use can come from that thing, or would it just be a "Toy" for eggheads to play with.

Well Final, I suppose that theoretically it could come in handy for older types who do not have the best memories, or for people with certain learning disabilities, but I think that such products are open for exploitation and incorrect use. The cameras in mobile phones are already bad enough .

*Taps Esq on the shoulder* I was asking about the On topic, not Taw's privacy invader. *shakes head*

Oh right, sorry . Ahem, I would imagine Final, that setting up a fully-functional prototype, and maintaining it without incident (ie. your "Boom!" ) for an extended period, would go a long way towards confirming the reactor's ability to be a long-term environmentally friendly solution. This would, fof course, also depend upon the reactor's running costs, and the skill level required by the reactor workers, etc.
It will start off as a "toy", but if it can produce bloody huge amounts of energy for a bloody small amount, then it will be bloody good ( ) and everyone will be after the technology (assuming that they can afford it).

Anyone else see that data storage device and start thinking "Battle Royale"?
If the authorities really wanted to go Orwellian they could have everyone wearing one of these and if you step out of line, BOOM!! A small explosive takes out your trachea and a couple of carotids.
