XP doesn't have a proper internal imaging program. You would have to use Norton "Ghost", or Power Quest "Drive Image", etc. I think that there are some free ones though.
You are right Final; if you make an image of Windows that does not work properly or is full of spyware, etc, then the image will restore them as well. That's why you should reinstall XP, make an image, install all of your programs (the safe ones), configure XP, and then image. That way, you can image a freshly installed copy of XP if you need it, and you can also restore XP with all of your programs if you are hit by a virus, etc.
