Who would make the best mod?
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.
Well, I think the person who would make the best mod would have a lot of programming experience.... Oh oops. Wrong kind of mod.
Seriously speaking now, I think that Sir Spectre has the innate 'mod sense' that would make him an effective one. And by mod sense, I mean crystal clear understanding of the rules.

Hmm, I would go with more traditional poeple - those who contribute vast wealth of knowledge to help in the thing we are about: Freelancer, and Freelancer Modding.
hence:
Accushot
I know Taw has helped LOTS with comp problems here in the abject spam forum - erm, sorry - off topic forum - as has Esqualix as well. However, there are hundreds of thousands of forums on the web to get help with computer problems, but there is only one real place to learn to mod FL, and find information out about the game. That's here - and hence why Accushot, and not the "Usual Suspects"

@Snipa, after what you just put us through? I don't think so.
------------------------------------------------------------
Even though I'm a contender for this "popularity contest," I'd just like to point out some criteria.
1. We're rather limiting the field of scope to just Off-Topic for applicants. Chips is right, Accushot would make a great moderator, though he doesn't seem to have a lot of time right now, it'd be interesting to hear his response if he were to be asked. I have a lot of respect for Accushot, I know he has the knowledge and wisdom to do the job.
2. The mod would have to venture OUT of Off-Topic from time to time.
3. What kind of experience is required? Chips mentioned a mod should be a modder as well. I don't think all the mods are, nor do they need to be modders, Chips has the certain advantage over anyone here in that area anyway. I have more experience spotting rampant posters, but that doesn't mean any other new mod couldn't do just as good a job (Although, they always show up when I'm on for some odd reason ). I think familiarity with the forums and respect of the posters is the earned experience that is required of a new mod.
4. Time. While I know some mods have lessened their presence, the ones still here devote a good amount of their time to the job. Esqy has a lot of patience and finds quality time to devote to this site he apparently likes very much. He's learned the rules rather quickly and as long as you don't engage him on linguistics he's a great guy. He's here more often than I am and he would be an excellent mod.
5. A sense of decency and fairness. All the people listed have these qualties. But Wolfy is a sheep in wolf's clothing. I remember him trying to end the feuds in the hoax to Starfyre, he was really concerned about the effect the fighting would have on the community. it takes a noble heart to stand up and try to end hostilities, even in the face of great opposition. His caring for this site and entusiasm are great assets to his cause.
6. Judgement ... this is one criteria we wouldn't really know until we see the person conducting his duties.
7. Commitment, it may sound similar to devoting time and making wise judgements, but it is more than that. It means making decisions, even if it isn't the popular thing to do. Thankfully, we have a respectful group posting here, who from time to time moderate themselves. Commitment also means, following the same rules as everyone else must.
There may be more criteria, I just can't think of them right now.
