(sarcasm)Forsooth! Ye olde Australians are unaware of this petrolic invention. I ride, with great haste, mine cart and buggy to mine place of business. By and by, yon square rigged brig is used for retrieving sea bound wares from yon ocean bottom. Harness wind and horse for transportation says I.(/sarcasm)
I think what Violator was trying to put across with his cleavland comment was that with the same design we end up building a better product. The cleavland was an AMERICAN block that we aussie's (pronounced OZIE's you yanks )manufactured...
Some Interesting OZ vs US Facts
The current Holden Commodore Monaro IS exported to the US and sold under different names (I think pontiac GTO)... the difference is that in Oz it gets better suspension.... and in the US it can get a bigger engine...
The Commodore that the Monaro is based on is a four door sedan, it is also available as a station wagon, a utility (2 and 4door) and as a 4WD SUV.
The oz boss 260 is 5.4litres vs 4.6 as it is in the states...
AND thats the dodgey engine in the OZ falcon we manufacture a turbocharged 4.0 Six that can be modified into a much better car....unless your towing with it.
FWD vs RWD that all depends on whether or not your an idoit... all major race cars are RWD... If your a dopey lead foot FWD will probably save your life espesially in the wet.
Ozzies tend to hit trees not lamp-posts but that has to do more with superior australian beer..
Kangaroo's have wings and are not suitable as land based transport. We use trained 'drop bears' to pull trailers to and from our vegimite farms.
Most australians would love an old american muscle car.
However the first two things we would do after driving it are to pull the tree damage from the front of the car and stiffen the suspension.
The Australian northern territory has no speed limit.
Australians pay about an australian dollar a litre or $2.45US a US gallon.
and the lowest octane fuel we get is 92. However our australian dollar is near worthless and we don't get paid very many of them, so in real terms thats expensive.
Chrysler died a horrible death in Oz 20 years ago. (our Hemi on modern tyres can manage 13.9 down the quarter and was a 4.3litre SIX from 1972).. Chrysler is back but they only sell us the japanese like neons, voyagers and the cruiser...
Our most well known race track is a mountain circuit with more than 3 corners.
AKA bathurst.
The very popular Holden Commodore in now fitted with an american engine that is experiencing regular failures and call backs to get it to survive OZ.
Australia invented the Coupe/Ute.
All stressed out with no-one to choke

even though all the americans ive actually talked to have claimed we drink fosters, in reality, no australian drinks fosters. the true choice is really mind boggleing. and you can make your own too!
