Very weird

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Very weird

The other day I got a mail from Esq, the subject stolen, the attachment story.doc.com, when i scanned it, it told me it found NetskyB virus, i mailed Esq aking him why he sent me a virus, havent heard from him yet.
Today i got a mail that looks exactly the same form Eraser

I dont know what's going on, it cant be that they have sent me these emails, becus there's basically no chance that they would send mail that are exactly the same to me.

Now I just wanna know whats going on, the other day i got a mail from mailer deamon saying it couldn't deliver an email i sent, I know for sure i didnt send an email to that addy

Did this maybe happen to anybody else

BTW Eraser and Esq not trying to make you two look bad, I really do believe that you didnt send those mails

There are moments in life when you miss someone so much you want to pick them from your dreams and hug them.

Uh-oh sw. Don't open the e-mail from the mailer deamon. I can't remember which virus did mails like that(NetskyVII?). Anyways DON'T OPEN IT netskyVII can install itself just by you reading the e-mail. Strange things go on on the internet.

Correction. IF you are using an unpatched version MS Outlook . Go to MS Office Update center (using IE, unfortunately and of course) and you'll be able to get the latest patches you need to plug yet another hole.

Not using MS outlook, using yahoo

Well that's good. Now is the time to make sure you're AV is up-to-date..... like it ALWAYS is the time.

Post Sat May 08, 2004 4:33 am

Well, this pc doesnt have AV the one that connects to the net has one(I'm on a network)

Yes! Someone has finally spoofed my address; I'm so proud!

Sorry sw, I haven't sent you any emails - ever. I don't even know what your email address is (I'll check for email from you now - nope, haven't got any messages). Furthermore, I don't use an email client, so there is no chance that I have a worm on my PC. I'm not stupid enough to open any of the spam I get anyway, so it appears that someone is targeting me (coward). When will these people learn that they can't win? I can spoof email addresses to you stupid bastard! Ahem, sorry .

What was the email address listed in the message? Was it the one listed in my profile?

yep

I hate sarcasm, I never ever use it.sycho_warrior

This exact same thing happened to me. Now I know, Lancer's Reactor visitors are the specific targets of email viruses. I think someone is going through us one at a time and it seems to be targeted at writers.

He could only have said that he didnt like my story
Well now the thing is, how do you know which mails to open and which not?

Post Sat May 08, 2004 6:36 am

sw - That's a hard one. As for ID'ing emails from me, I NEVER send attachments, so you can tell that it is spoofed if it has one. If I *did* need to email something as an attachment (almost never), I'd post here with the file's particulars eg. size, filename, type, etc first. A good rule of thumb is to never open emails from people you don't know. You avoid 100% of all viruses that way .

Post Sat May 08, 2004 6:37 am

Usually does that, almost deleted one of Taw's emails that way

Post Sat May 08, 2004 6:42 am

My logs say I am sending netsky Z@mm but I did a couple scans and its nowhere on my computer. Furthermore I use Hotmail so I dont know how this puppy is sending itself. UNLESS I AM BEING SPOOFED. I no alot about these spoofers and I know its illegal to assume someones identity and I know how to trace it to the EXACT address of the true sender so I am just waiting to get a spoofed email from you guys

Probably wasn't from him anyway .
