Virtual Reality: Old news???

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Virtual Reality: Old news???

I have just read an article on BBC news through a link about this thingamabob that projects images right in front of the pupil to held surgons and mechanics operate. Then I saw that this will probably be used for gaming. Actually messing around with the optical nerves to create fully detailed, realistic envirments. I was like: ALL HAIL, GREAT OVERLORD MICROVISION! (The producer of this technology.) I felt like telling my father, who is a computer chip disigner. He says this is old news, and has been worked on for years. In that case, I won't be surprised if in the next few years, gaming tournaments will be held in gyms, people with wierd helmets on, running around, waving thier arms around. I can't wait! Seriously, I've read about thing like this in Sci-fi books. Looks like a lot of things lately have been that way, eh?

VR is such a non-starter, computers and sware need to be much more powerful and much more sophisticated before VR has a hope in hell.

I'm with Taw; and it *is* old news . "Far Cry 3D" would look pretty bloody good though... I'm actually interested to see whether or not this will be embraced by the public. I can imagine the paranoid types (like me) claiming that it is a form of brain-washing and mind-control. I'm glad that I have my aluminium-foil hat on right now...
