Windows Startup

Where in windows xp can i change what programs load when i start windows?

My life just flashed before my eyes, and it was rather boring.

Go to the start menu and click on 'run', type in msconfig and go to the startup tab.

It's an axe, I use it to...hack at people

this has such the stink of Kazaa-related p2p stuff in your startup, and all the adware that it loads. Don't tell me I'm wrong; i know you better than that. You've been bad again, ff, haven't you? Uncle Eskie will give you what for..

Thank god taw that im not one of your kids, id hate to think how you keep tabs on them. And im only after new simpsons episodes from the us.

actually, while taw's on the subject of p2p adware, I have a question. I have a *cough* friend *cough* who p2p's quite a lot...his machine is clean and fast except for one little thing - GAIN adware. Does anyone know how to disable GAIN without disabling the p2p software?

spyware scanner

unf that GAIN cr*p is an integral part of a certain p2p programme, and if your "friend" disables it, as well as altnet and some other things, said p2p won't work. my only suggestion is a pop-upkiller to make the advertising less intrusive. Or your "friend" can fork out for the non-ad version of said p2p. Anyway you should be using e-mule.

ive heard from a source that a certain p2p 'lite' version doesnt come with this GAIN stuff, perhaps your friend could use this instead

I've got a "friend" who's got one like that, but it's Dutch so it wont do you much good imo.

e-Mule you twonks!

Post Tue Apr 27, 2004 12:12 pm

do they have simpsons episodes?

Post Tue Apr 27, 2004 1:15 pm

I have heard on the grapevine of overnet.....which has next to no crap associated with it, and during installation you can disable some features too.......its top notch, and doesn't have all the CRAP that comes with other applications, which no-one should be using anymore due to its terribleness...

Oh - i say that because the 50kbps of download you get (depending on connection, amounts of sources etc) means that you can usually get things alot quicker....

Ha! *Picks up remote, turns to channel 8* Simpsons episodes, a whole hour and a half of them every weekday!

Am I correct in believing that you can download movies, 'cause thats what my Uncle did and told me. He's also the guy who told me to stop downloading music and the law-following guy with a shotgun.

Post Tue Apr 27, 2004 2:01 pm

@Eh_Steve: If you know where to look you can download some movies that haven't even made it to the theatres yet.

Edit = And before anyone emails me asking where. I don't know. I saw a special report on a TV news magazine that showed how you could download Pirates of the Carribean before it was even out.

*Assumes British accent* What's all 'is then? Bad ff! *Starts punctuating words with thwacks* Don't-use-P2P-software! If you have to, as I have said, use open source Or use something like eMule (maybe if you use the tag, they'll notice Taw .)

this has such the stink of Kazaa-related p2p stuff in your startup...
It's funny Taw, I thought exactly the same thing when I read his post .
