I wouldnt give up the PC, ever really. Sure upgrade costs are through the ass but its worth it being able to play something and then playing it and looking at it and realizing. That your playing the best there is out there, plus we get dibs on all the great new technology and engines. I also own a console, PS2, and while I do have a fairly big library of games for it, it doesnt even rival that of my PC. Though sometimes, I do appreciate the simplicity of just flicking it on, sticking a CD in and playing it without having to worry about a thing. What I DO think is that technology is raging way too fast for its own good. First GeForce 4 was the best, what seems as only a few months later FX is out and now that new one is out and its outdated and theres a radeon slated to kill it later. I mean seriously these are margins of time between releases are so small you never are really sure one day its new and shiny next day its old and outdated. Frankly im sick of this video card ordeal, they should rest it a bit seriously. Im f***ing sick of buying a new video card every few months. And then its a big question mark if it will be compatible or work or if it needs to be patched and whatnot. But think of it this way, if PC's never become as "cool" as consoles are, at least many of the games on PC are ported to console and vice versa. So if the PC never hits the mainstream fan the consoles will always be our window to it. Since thats what consoles are, they are PC's that stay on the market longer so they dont have to be upgraded while developers roll out games for it.
PS: PC will always be here, think of it this way, they use PC's to make console games so haha!
