oh.. this sounds disturbing..

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Complete knowledge of how the genetic library works will only become a necessity when we develop a way to alter the DNA structure of a living being in real-time, e.g.: turning someone from a blue-eyed to green-eyed person, changin hair colour, skin colour, muscle strength, IQ potential, etc.

The technology to do this is VERY far off, and im talking ALIEN level technology here, any of you who have seen the stargate SG-1 episode where Nirrti gets ahold of thet Ancients DNA resequencer will have an idea of what im talking about.

I have some up with an idea for a peice of technology that can heal any wound, disease and disorder in under 30 min, it could even bring a guy back to life, if you put him in before he got brain damage, but that techlology is BEYOND alien-level, prinicipally because it relies on multiple pieces of tecnology that do not exist:
A cellular disruptor cannon
An Atomic Reconstructor
A complete knowledge bank of the DNA storage system
A liquid that acts as an oxygen conveyor.

All built into a nano-scale machine about 2 picometres across, and considering there would need to be billions of billions of them, the idea is pretty far off

ok, all this thread was a bit too much info for me... specially Loc's post with all the gene-stuff. And you said something about brainscells, I live perfectly normal w\o em. So I could live normaly w\o cancercells(w\e) as long as I'm not struck by lightning, getting hit by a train in japan or get elected to the president?

Nirrti gets ahold of thet Ancients DNA resequencer

Is that the one where the Russian guy gets turned into water?

BTW:
What is everyone's fixation with genetics. It's not playing with genes that we should worry about, but that a scary amount of the English-speaking population is moronic. For starters, American farmers hit upon the bright idea of feeding antibiotics to livestock like typical food. The result? MRSA and other nice superbugs. You then have drugs companies wasting time on looking for ways to solve smoking. This annoys me particularly because I don't see why something important like finding cures for neurodegenerative (sp?) diseases should lose funding because people can't read health warnings liberally plastered on cigarette packs.

All in all, what's the worst that could happen from all of this anyway?
