Age

It was my birthday yesterday (yay), today for some of you (the 14th), and it makes me wonder about whether or not "age" is really dependent upon chronology. What I mean to say is, there is the old expression; "he's older than his years". Do you believe that? I do; I've always felt old, or at least,I've held on to antiquated values and beliefs for many years. Opinions?

I think WebMD web site has a age deternination program. Lack of terminology. You answer a lot of questions based on your lifesyle, eating habits, ect, and it give you your Real age. Most people average under their date age by 1-4 years. Mine, when I took the test 2 years ago, 42 then, said I was 47 years old bummer. It consideres your physical activity and other aspects of your life and then give recemendations to change your Age. I don't know about you, but some days, I just feel old. That old phrase of your only as old as you feel is bunk. I can not do what I could when I was 20, no matter how much I Think I can.

I couldn't find the program . Oh well, I can do more than I could several years ago... except find a full-time job!

Don't I get a "Happy Birthday", Final? That hurts .

Thank you

more to the point /what Mike said. Even here on these forums, I often notice that some write in ways that you would ascribe to someone far older. Arch is only just coming up to his 20s, but his observations and insights are such that you'd think he was far older (that's a compliment you spong) Chetnik is much the same, maswastage, EB, and Worth/Warlord Bob always came across as a lot older than he actually was. There are lots of others too. Whereas I act ike I'm about 11. I wasn't as mature as these folks when I was their age, that's for sure.

And it isn't a question of feeling old. I ddin't start feeling old until I was about 35, before then I pretty much just floated through the years good and bad, then the accumulated weight of this time and the stress and anguish and self-abuse of the tons of crap came right upon me, and i caught up big-time. whoa. and now i'm falling to bits ho-hum.

Yep, the weight of the world has got you down, eh Taw?

I didn't feel old at all until, that is, I got caught by a sudden hailstorm just as I'd parked the rental car I had driven and was still about 100 yards from the entrance to the office building I was headed into. I had not sprinted in ages. I never had to so I didn't bother. So I tried to sprint to the door to stay reasonably dry/unbruised.

Well, I had the most awful revelation in my life. Not only was I slow as molasses but I couldn't even move my legs as quickly as I knew I used to. I was completely shocked and amazed.

Of course, am some 20 lbs. heavier than when I think I weighed the last time I ran fast and hard... in a touch football game about 10 years ago but... OMFG! You don't know how crushing to your ego it is when your own body refuses to do what you know it used to do. I just about weeped.

And so now I am resolved to lose those 20 lbs, hopefully 30 and to work out. It's a great resolution. *rummages about desk* I know I kept it here somewhere......

What's it take to get a "Happy Birthday Esky!" around here?

Post Wed Apr 14, 2004 3:59 pm

Happy birthday Esky!

How old are you? I don't remember.

And to go along with what Taw said, I can behave and think like I'm older and mature. I'm 13 in body, 30 in mind and 4 in maturity. At least that's what my friends say.

Anyway, happy birthday Esky and may all your years to come be happy and free.

Happy Birthday Eskie!

I think there's some truth in what you say, I'm 27 at the moment but tend to act more like a 21 year old. I have no interest in getting married or having kids or tying myself to anything resembling responsibility as most of my other mates are doing at the moment. I still just want to drink myself stoopid and have fun. I'm like the guy who never wants to grow up, and I will continue to grow up kicking and screaming as I've always done.

Happy Birthday, Eskie!

don't bother with birtdays much, meself.

Thanks guys, I appreciate that . Didn't I mentiun my age? *Checks* Right, sorry . I'm now 23. I think that my mental age is far older though.

Post Wed Apr 14, 2004 4:10 pm

And the emotional/maturity age is much lower? Or are you one of those people who wants to grow up?

Post Wed Apr 14, 2004 4:16 pm

Neat, I am, pudge ball that I am, 2.2 years younger! So there is a method to my sendentary lifestyle!

Nertz. I didn't finish the thing. I am only 1.7 years younger. Turns out sedentary isn't such a good thing. Rats.
