(@ Anyone who runs win2k) Sorted

I recently caught a virus, and had to quarantine one of my system files, so I was wondering if anyone else who runs win2k could send it to me ([email protected]). The file is "C:\winnt\image.dll"

Many thanx

I believe that that is a trojan. Check in the registry, and tell me what it says under "HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windos\CurrentVersion\Run".

Does it say something like this; "image REG_SZ rundll32 c:\Windows\image.dll,install"
in the right pane?

@ pyscho well if it is a trojan i assume you dont want me to send you a copy

seriously though if it should be there ill have it and if not i wont 100% as my pc running 2k is brand new 12 hrs ago and has never been online yet
i did have a look at the online dll archive i use and it wasnt there so in view of what esq says im pretty suspicious of the file now

I checked on this, yes delete the key, if it was legit W2K would recreate it on boot-strap anyway (probably) Isn't this the registry key that a lot of spyware hooks itself to? And cr*p like Realplayer and those stupid registration programs use winnt/image.dll, I think?

I just tried it on me W2K server and it worked fine
