Arania, the tag for a pic is img, not [pic=blahblahblah. okay. and put a closing bracket on that.

Signature? What's that?

wht is this Thermaltake Subzero PCI CPU cooler how does it work seen this sort of thing but never really got it. could you maybe explian further. like what is the difference btween the cpu cooler from Thermaltake and the one you get with a cpu(regular fan)
thanks vangoh

@steve, i know, just fixed it, twice

@vangoh, basically an advanced PCI cntrolled CPU fan i think, costs about $200 AU.
I actually have a bit of a habit of getting stuff that isnt really meant for a PC of my use, but that which will make it run ALOT better, such as: Xeon processors are designed for servers, but will make a gaming machine run very well, same with the coolers, get on designed for a server, and it will do more than enough fo a humble home PC, especially if ur an overclocker, usually your Mobo or CPU will come with a fan, but if it dosent, these are you next best bet.

Termaltake manufactures a whole bunch of different fans, to be perfectly honest, i dont know any others.
Thermaltake products

My best reccomendation is to SHOP AROUND, i can get ahold of a 2.6 P4 for about $200, basically, find what you want in a system, find what component does the job, and find the cheapest price from a reputable dealer

RAM should be your first upgrade consideration.

True, but he should probably get a decent MB that supports some good RAM. He will only get so far with SD-RAM 133MHz .

What OS do you have. Reason for asking, I believe WIN98 has a 512 limit.

What do you mean, Vangoh? What are the performance benefits or more RAM? What type of RAM should you get? Will my motherboard support it? I'm not exactly sure what you would like to know re. RAM.

Post Mon Apr 05, 2004 6:25 pm

yes i would like to know the benifits and what kind to purchase and i think that my motrher board will suport 333mhz Esquilax

An upgrade to a 512 DDR RAM stick (notice the costs are about the same regardless of PC2100 thru PC 3200) would offer the cheapest bang for your bux considering your configuration. Leave extra cash for upgrades in other areas. Another 80 Gig hdd actually would be a fiscal option then and one with a 7200 RPM w 8 meg buffer should be within reach. You're fairly limited on a 200 budget, so make the best choices for the price.

EDIT: Benefits going from 128 to 512...amazing results. Benefits going to a HDD with 8 mg buffer...very nice. Seek times are slashed from lesser mg models.

@vangoh you say something is missing hmmm as already stated memory is the answer you dont have enough and before you blow all your cash remember
you dont have to buy everything at once ,see how well you get on with the memory first
another couple of things not mentioned by yourself are sound ie speakers and soundcard and a monitor not knowing what you have its difficult to say but an all mod cons pc with a 14" monitor and onboard sound can spoil the whole system

Steel is right; take it slowly, and make sure that everything works well and is compatible before adding something else. It makes more sense in the long run.
