Drunk people, weekends, phones and cackle laughter

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I had a strangely similar experience a little while ago.
I had to miss out on a party at a friends house because I had work early the next morning. While at this party, my friends had somehow come to the inebriated conclusion that it would be a good idea to walk 5 or 6 miles through country lanes between 1 and 4am to my workplace. Once they got there they all sat round a pillar and passed out. So when I ran down to work at 6 in the morning, they were all there looking like pillocks, a few of them wake up, shout at me for being 3 minutes late for work, manage to piss off my boss and then they all go home!

I just get phone calls from people calling wrong... Not from anyones drunk

Post Sun Mar 28, 2004 9:25 am

i once prank called one of my hightschool teachers on new years when i was really drunk.

he wasn't home, but i left a message in an East Indian voice asking why he hadn't picked me up from the airport yet, ala some prank call i had downloaded one time.

then i think we called and left like 5 more messages after that. it was very funny

Back before the do-not-call list, I once answered telemarketers and political fund people with things like this:

"No, I'm sorry, this is the Dahmer residence" (Followed by "Hand me another ear there, please")

"Sure, I'll vote for you, but only if you amend the constitutions so thirteen year olds can vote."

Them: "Hello, is so-and-so there?"
Me: "Yes, one second." Background you hear: "Let the tall one go, but kill the short guy and his girlfriend."

Then there's my favorite:
Telemarketer: "Hello, is so-and-so there?"
Me: "No, both my parents are in jail."
Them: "For what?"
Me: "Killing a telemarketer."

People call but thats where my favorite weapon of caller id comes into play. If you know its a telemarketer just pick up the phone and answer with some really stupid welcoming like.

Hello, Bobs butchering....
Thanks for calling Krogers, may i help you?

Then of course there is the classic.

Thanks for calling the world of pleasure, for the female directory please press 1, for....
The silence you will hear on the other side of the line will be well worth it.

I've actually had somebody call my house and ask if it was city hall. I just banged my head against the wall. I responded, "Uh....no."

"Evil will always triumph because good is dumb!"

I have a silent number *looks down nose at non-silent number TLR regulars* , so I have that problem once every four months. I wish I had a good phone joke I could share .

silent number?

It's basically an unlisted number. It comes in handy when avoiding telemarketers, etc.

Post Sun Mar 28, 2004 3:35 pm

Okay, by silent number I thought it was gonna be like: "Call me, my number is *grumble grumble grumble grumble*"

Unfortunatly, in the US, unlisted does not stop the randum calls or the computer generated ones. They are the worst.

Is it true that you guys in the US have "Auto-Dialers"? He, they must be REALLY annoying!

Post Sun Mar 28, 2004 4:48 pm

It's really annoying when my house gets telemarketers because they think that I'm my dad because my voice is so low. I've always wanted to pull some prank off on them but I couldn't bring myself to do that against another human being. Unfortunately, I patiently deal with them instead of saying 'not interested' and hanging up. Really annoying.
