Linux Question
Well a RedHat question to be more precise. I'm setting up a RedHat 9 machine to do some testing and just generally play with but I'm encountering a naffy problem getting the hostname to work.
I had to use text mode to build it cause the graphical mode died in the ass everytime it tries to start itself up. As you may or may not know, the text mode in RH9 doesn't have an option to set the hostname, so you have to do it manually after the build. Now these are the two places I know it has to be changed/added:
/etc/hosts
/etc/sysconfig/network
I've gone ahead and made those changes but for some reason no other machine or even the localhost (using nslookup) wants to resolve a hostname to the machines IP addy. I'm thinking it may be a problem with the domain settings but I can't think where those setting would be hiding besides "hosts" and "network".
Any ideas? Eskie, I know you've done some dabbling with Linux? I'm hoping there's a linux whiz around here somewhere, cause this is doing my nut in.
