sad that a once great nation should be reduced to this condition.
mind you, even when they were a force to be reckoned with, things weren't much better in the Soviet Navy. Whilst their designers had some good ideas, esp. as regards underwater performance and range, as exemplified in the Alfa-class attack subs (like in Hunt for Red October) they sacrificied safety by cutting down on testing and used sub-standard materials and extremely questionable construction methods.
Now of course most of their fleet sits rotting in harbours, killing fish and polluting the seas, when it's not killing their own sailors
