Doctor Who...!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Doctor Who...!

So its official...The next actor to play Doctor Who has been revealed

I think he's gonna be great...although I still think Bill Nighy would have given it something good too...

Brilliant selection to play the Doc, Eccelston is a bloody good actor and perfect for the part. I can't say I was ever a big fan of Doctor Who, it always came across like a bad acid trip, trippy but slightly disturbing. Hopefully they do a good job of bringing the series up to date, it could be worth checking out.

I'd have preferred to se Richard E. Grant inthe role, as he did such a good job on the BBC animated webcast of Dr. Who, I think he had all the qualities of eccentricity and quirky englishness that the part demands, like Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker had. Eccleston's not a bad actor but I've seen him in too many cr*p roles playing the same nasty cowardly villains over and over again. If ytou're going to have Eccleston, why not give David Thewlis a chance too? just imagine, Thewlis as Dr. Who....!

I hope it's not brought too much up to date, Dr.Who has a rough and ready charm that is easily lost when the production values go up, as the Paul McGann "Millenium" feature length version showed. Too slick when it's aimed for the American market, doesn't work imho. Bet they ruin the Daleks too.

myself I liked Adam & Joe's gay Daleks "Ex-sperm-inate!"

I have heard of that actor, but I can't remember anything that he's done off-hand. I'm a bit disappointed though, I was hoping that DiCaprio would play the role. He's so talented!

Yeah. Ecclestone's gonna have to put on a completely new image which that photograph does not reveal. I'm with Taw. Dr. Who has got to have a touch of zaniness, not sociopathicness. I hope they try to put "drama" into the character so that the Doc runs around questioning himself and having guilt tips and such.

I get enough of that as it is.

Here's a thought. If they do decide to make the Doctor more introspectively self -absorbed, DiCaprio would make it entertaining. We could all laugh at a guy trying to act like he isn't self-absorbed, protraying a character that is self-absorbed!

Chris Eccleston, brilliant.
Cant wait to see what they come up with, PLUS its being co-penned by Mark Gatis and i absolutely LOVE leage of gentlemen. he's an absolute Sci-Fi freak so this is gonna be well done...i pray

Gatiss is writing it? fookin A! it's gonna be insane then, suddenly my worries have turned into hopes. Maybe Papa Lazarou will be the new Master, and the Doctor's new assistant will be those insane old women from the Charity shop...." have you got a bag dear? yes a bag.. ooooh that Meryl!"

ahhhhhhhh, warm glow of contentment as i think of the possibilities.

aw no! right, it's ruined. I used to fancy Tegan y'know, and Leela. well everyone fancied Leela, but I also liked Sarah Jane and the one who was a Time-Lord (Lalla Ward?) but I didn't like the last one who was the tomboy at all, well i didn't even like the Doctor then, bloody Sylvester McCoy, wtf was that all about? Ruined DrWho after Tom Baker left, the BBC did.
