Thank you for your very kind words. Worth was so optimistic as to make may people conclude that he would someday overcome the dastardly disease, rhabdomyosarcoma, a smooth muscle tissue tumor, which began in his neck. Worth was diagnosed Christmas Eve 2001. He preferred to focus on the positive and strive to get better, even to his last breath. You can see photos from his brief but full life on www.mem.com. Search for last name Riley. He would be 17 years old tomorrow.

A donation made to the American Cancer Sociey at www.cancer.org would be used in part for research. Worth's doctor is invited to respond to this message if there is any other organization which is wholly devoted to cancer research.

Many of us at Lancer's Reactor have taken your son's death very hard. We have had great discussions with him and all agree he was a humorous lad. Most of all we were surprised by his strength. We knew of some of his difficulties, but he always kept his spirits high. With a laugh and a chuckle he would joke about a bad day, We never realized how serious his condition was, nor do we know what particular cancer he had.

If you could provide that information with me and if you know of a certain research group that studies it, some of us at Lancer's Reactor would like to donate in Worth's memory to furthering the research of his particular cancer. I don't know how much it will be, some on the forums are even younger than Worth, but even they expressed an interest in this idea.

If you feel giving out this info is too personal, that is all right. We will simply make the donation to a general study of cancer in your area if possible.

I don't know if this is appropriate or it may bring new grief, but I have quoted below your son's last post on Lancer's Reactor. He was responding to some encouraging words we gave him when he went into the hospital.

Actualy, now I'm back again! Not two hours after this threaad was born I was on the way back to the hospital. Everything went to pot all at once. Hopefully I'll stay home for a while now!

Anyway I am currently drugged up the wazoo and my arm is dead. See you guys later...
