I''m baaaaack (and a little humbled)

Okay, the beast of a machine is back up and operational. After this fiasco

Here's the deal and the reason why I'm somewhat in a humbled mood. Machine has a new mobo, Gigabyte K7 Triton series GA-7VT600(-L), and new RAM (DDR PC-2700 up from PC-133 SDRAM) 512 mg. Good news is the processor I was underclocked at 1.05 gig due to limitation of 3 yr old mobo that was acting up in the first place and now it's able to spread it wings at 1.4 gig.

Bad news is I am completely at a loss how I could have forgotten a very simply thing. I forgot to take off the celophane from the heatsink I swapped out last summer. That was the major cause of all my problems. That and there were a couple of capacitors that were bulging and the mobo was 27 days out of warranty. Asus 3 yrs is 3 yr.

I'm literally kicking myself as I post this.

Bottom line is I'm back, upgraded and only about 200 USD less in my pocket. Did I miss anything?

All of importance you missed was some real long post about girls (Sir Spectre's theory disproved? Nah) and some other stuff that I really can't remember. And I was bored and just wanted to know what side of town you lived in, but there's no Rob Lordier in the phone book. And I posted a thing about the jackets actually winning, imagine that.

i had a feeling it was capacitor related, as the 15mins indicated some slow charging or a leaking charge on the mobo. was it on the power rail? I am however almost lost for words at your admission, however. Did you find this out for yourself and did you have to suffer the indignity of having it pointed out to you.

Console yourself with the thought that my 500quid digital camera fonked out 3 weeks out of warranty and its only a year old, and it's costing me nearly £150 to get repaired. But i noticed something wrong with it back in September, and if I'd done something about it then it wouldn't have cost me a penny

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM i have the same problem1!!shift_one!!1

after i shut down my compputer i have to flip off the mains for about 15 mins or so before i can start it up again.. been happening forever.. i should see if there's any tape on my heatsink now..
