Desktop Shortcut for Standby command

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Desktop Shortcut for Standby command

Hiya guys! things have been going great for me lately, I can tell you I got me a new decent laptop. I know Taw, I hate laptops too but I'm gonna be a road warrior, this is the right thing for me to do . Being a total geek that I am, I put desktop shortcuts to things like Shutdown and Restart (taught by Tweaktown.com). The proper tag for the shutdown icon is "shutdown -s -t 00" and for Restart is "shutdown -r -t".

Does anyone know the tag attribute for Standby and Hibernate command?

Your Matrix arguments are still causing me consternation and sleepless nights. I've watched all 3 films over again twice just to convince myself I'm not mad or totally misguided. I think I was right the first time with me bolt argument, I think that's the key to understanding what the Matrix and Zion really are. Unf Ive got to an irreconcilable position. And that's all YOUR fault! (j/k)

FF - Are you referring to Linux or Windows?

Good pick-up Esq. I'll assume it's windows though cause they are windows tags FF is using there. From memory Linux doesn't use those tags, certainly not in that format anyway.

No such thing In windows though FF. If you are ever wondering though, go into a command prompt and type shutdown /? and it'll give you a list of tags you can use.

Mustang - I've learnt to never assume anything in IT; there are fewer problems that way . Still, I assumed that it was Windows too, or else he'd have been using "shutdown -r now" or something similar. Now of course, there is the question of which version of Windows. I won't assume XP .

For Win95/98/ME the shutdown shortcut is "C:\windows\rundll.exe user.exe,exitwindows".

There does not seem to be a shortcut option for "Stand By" mode in XP, however there is one option. Use this VB script;

set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell" )
WshShell.SendKeys "^{ESC}ulss{ENTER}"

Just save it as "standby.vbs", place it on your desktop, and everyone is happy.
