The philidelphia experiment
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Has anyone heard of this? it was supposedly some american experiment in ww2 that involved building ships out off different metals, so they would react and displace the ship somewhere away from uboats?
the story goes that it was an experiment in cloaking/stealth technology
the rumour is that the ship actualy disappeared and was seen in england
when it reappeared some people were dead and some buried part of the way through decks and bulkheads
not that i believe most of this but the book was a good read
something did happen but what is likely to remain a mystery

For those who don't know what this is about, here's a brief synopsis. This is what the whole thing was about, as I understand it; The goal of "Project Rainbow" as it was known, was to make that ship invisible to enemy detection. I'm not sure whether the goal was to protect the ship from torpedoes, or to become invisible. It is theorised that the mechanism involved was the generation of an incredibly intense magnetic field around the ship which was supposed to create a shimmery "mirage"-like effect. They say that the ship actually vanished, and then returned. I remember reading that some people said that it was an investigation into how Einstein's Unified Field Theory might be used in practical naval terms. There are stories about "green fog" that surrounded the ship and then disappeared along with the vessel, and that sort of thing.
It's probably all scuttlebutt, but one of the "facts" that we do have is that USS Eldrigre existed, as the Keel was laid on Ferbuary 1943, the ship was built in New Jersey.

The US Navy's historical group have this to say.... not that they would hide anything
