Awww raspberries!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Awww raspberries!

What movie have you seen (DVD, Video, or theater) That should get the raspberry award. It did not live up to the Hype?

Robot Jox with Gary Graham
When I saw it, there were only 2 of us in that screening room

The third Matrix. It was a good movie, dont get me wrong. But the hype said it was going to be so much more.

The Phantom Menace, I remember nearly pissing myself when I first downloaded the trailer and being so dissapointed when I saw it in the cinema. I really wanted to see the movie that was portrayed in the trailer. Don't get me wrong I still enjoy watching it, but it was far less than what I anticipated.

gotta go with Mustang on this one, Matrix:Revolutions left me feeling cheated; I really wanted my money back. In itself it's not a bad film, but I came away feeling used, I hoped for so much more.

Love, Actually should be banned under some clause of the Geneva Convention, I was forced to sit through this drivel on the basis that "it's really, really funny" and guess what? it's not, unless you've been lobotomised with a sharp dessert spoon. Cr*p.

those are the recent ones. I choose films and dvds with care and with very few exceptions won't bother with anything I have a good idea is going to be dross.

I agree with Love Actually, what a let down that was. I was hoping for a Curtis Comedy, and instead I got a second-rate lovey-dovey pile of crap. It was like they made an entire film from Andie MacDowell's final line in "four weddings and a funeral"....you remember the one...."raining? I didn't notice" ...

...BBLLUURRGGHHHH!!

And then of course there's "Bridget Jones's Diary" - the film that men were conned into believing that it IS actually funny and it ISN'T just for women. B*ll*cks. Piece of ****.

And finally, my nomination for the worst film ever - 2000's "Mission to Mars" - advertised as having Tim Robbins in the starring role in a big "special effects bonanza". Bull****. The effects are crap, the story is **** and Tim Robbins dies after the first half an hour leaving a b-celebrity cast to try and pull off the rest of the film. Absolutely awful. Sorry if I spoiled it for anyone who wanted to see it - but trust me when I say that I've done you a favour. They should provide health warnings with that movie.

a shame because the original by Andrei Tsarkovsky is one of the most original and unusual SF films I've ever seen, sort of a subdued and unpretentious 2001.

Erm, i think (if not mistaken) this thread was about living up to hype - not how crap they are........because there are THOUSANDS of truly AWFUL films that you just haven't seen. I mean you slag off some with storyline rubbish and stuff - but at least they worked from a script. Some films look like they just stuck a person infront of a camera, forgot to say action, and started filming.....they are that bad.

For HYPE though - I think it has to go with.........

Pearl Harbour.

The Phantom menace does fall short of what you EXPECTED to see - BUT if it didn't have the star wars name you would think it was perfectly watchable/ a good movie - certainly entertaining - which is exactly what it is. Same with the others - i don't find them what they made them out to be, but its still entertaining.

However - Pearl harbour..........the plot, storyline and other crap was diabolicle - and worse still - it was hyped up with openings on a battleship in Hawaii and stuff. I mean the film was so badly overhyped that the premier stuff went global - it was in newspapers about the promo that they did..........and the film flopped spectacularly cause it was complete and utter waste of film real. Its the only film that i wanted to write a letter to the producers asking for an appology and some comenstation for the pain of pins and needles I got in my ass whilst watching it!
