Fair enough, Indy. Mozilla will come to you in time. Then you will realise the true nature of the force! I mean, open source browser .

Well, I finally did it.... sort of. Still using ME, quite happily. But now using Mozilla 1.6. Did a comparison for the past few days with Netscape 7.1 and found the following:

Moz loads in about a half of the time as Net. Look and feel between the two are really quite similar (even with all the gew-gaws added by AOL to Net). No dramatic speed difference once loaded but you get a suspicion that Moz is a little faster. Moz occupies less drive space.

Unable to see whether Moz is more stable than Net as I've never had a problem with Net. Nicest thing was that Moz automatically took all my bookmarks from Net and set them up so no rebuild time at all.

@Anyone. So what's Firefox all about?

Alternating my time between IE and FireFox 0.8 version. Its ok so far. Do like the funtionality of it better than IE. Verdict on the whole is still out. But who knows. Can import IE Favorites easy enough. Still on a learing curve on the rest of it. So far 3.5 stars out of 5

You won't be sorry, old chum! I used Mozilla too, but I switched over to Firefox a while ago. Firefox is basically a browser built on the Mozilla engine. It is much faster than Moz, and is more compatible with sites; not that Moz isn't. FF is also far more streamlined, and is designed more for the mainstream. That's the thing I don't like about it; you do not have as much control over the settings as you do with Moz. Still, I highly recommend it.

GRRRRRR!! netscape is a piece of sh*t
my dad had it and i told him flat out that it sucked. he natually defended it and said it was the site that the problem was on. then i used IE and it worked fine, ever since i was better at computers than my dad

*i removed the chain letter from my sig*

Classic. The old "It's not the browser, it's the site that's stuffed!" argument. You've got to love it .

@wolfy/esq - guys, you know my opinion on nutscrape and there's no way that I'm gonna defend it, however wolfy your dad has a point believe it or not. When I design, whether I like it or not, I have to make sure that all of my sites work on ALL browsers - as old as possible. The only browser that designers are now beginning to scrap support for is Netscape 4.7....its way to old and buggy to be deemed worth supporting. But all other versions of netscape MUST be supported. So yes, your dad is right, if he's using Nutscrape 6+ and a site doesn't work in it, its the site designers fault.

But that doesn't make it a good browser - it just makes it a semi-popular one.

@Grom.....

Uhmmmm. I believe, until lately at least, that I was the only Nutscrape 7.1 user in this crowd . AND I'm not using it anymore. So I think commenting on Nutscrape's merits likely is rendered moot, as they say

I've plonked over to Mozilla 1.6 and am only partially impressed. This is because, in fact, when I used Nutscrape 7.1, it permitted me to open multiple sessions without much argument. (The IE 6.0something I have installed at home would start bogging down after one session was opened and eventually freeze up after two). Mozilla 1.6 permits multiple sessions as long as I don't try to open up a PDF page (I use Acrobat 5.0 - full install). If I do, it will hang up. Don't know why yet and am tinkering around to see if I can suss it out.... I like the simplicity of Mozilla, it is cleaner than Nutscrape and it is quite snappy in speed.
By my book IE finishes dead last of my choices. Certainly am not considering going back to IE.

{At work, I am forced to use a proprietarily setup IE 5.0something.... eventually to be upgraded to a proprietarily setup IE 5.5something or maybe even 6.0something if I am deemed worthy by my Tecnhoid Dept. }

I did nothing of the sort!! Do you know how offensive that is to me?!! lol. I never once offered any merits for nutscrape....mainly because I don't know of any! You are right about mozilla though, it is far superior, but still not my browser of choice...

hehehe...I reckon that could be a new millenium playground taunt..."you like netscape ner ner na nerrr nerrr"......If anybody else says that I'm gonna give you all some seriously nasty chinese burns, OK!?!?!

Grom - You like Netscape?

Indy - Grab the Adobe plugin from MozDev. See if that helps.
