Montreal of course. So many clutures here. The city has been around since the 1600's and is the best place in Canada, IMO.

Wolstanton, capital of the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of North Staffordshire.

(otherwise Rome, Florence, Venice, and Istanbul, in that order)

Annecy more a town than a city though

I thought "Seatle" had two "t"'s, ie. "Seattle". You Yanks are getting slack .

it's all "Micorsofts" fault! (sometimes they spell their own name like that; what else can you expect when they don't actually pay their employees with real money?)

Post Tue Feb 24, 2004 4:30 pm

Well how do they pay them then? Stock? Bearer-bonds? The release of one of their family from indentured slavery?

@Esq - Yeah, that's about it.

I love it here in Columbus, OH, USA. though it's better to live closer to the suburbs because the closer you are to downtown, the more people get shot daily.

I understand that they pay them in shares (stock to you) equivalent to an annual slary, at the end of each year. so employees have to work for a year for nowt. that's why they have such a massive turnover of staff in the lower to middle ranks. oh and its all performance related. lots of people leave before they finish their first year, cos they hate it or cant manage financially, but in so doing lose their first years salary. afaik, that used to be the case, dunno if it's still the same, lost my contact in Microsoft a few years ago.

Favorite US cities to visit.....

San Francisco, New Orleans, and Boston in that order. I'd like to go to Charleston
one day but I can never seem to get there.

Favorite States to visit in the US .....

Hawaii, Alaska (never been to Alaska), Arizona (Grand Canyon, Pike's Peak, etc.), Utah (Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, etc.), Wyoming (never been).

New York's Adirondack Park also is beautiful. It is the largest park and preserve in the country and it is older than Yellowstone.

<Edit>

Favourite AU cities to visit.....

Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth.

Favourite States to visit in AU.....

Victoria, NSW, Queensland, Tasmania, Northern Territory, and Western Australia.

Lots of nice vistas. You may notice I didn't mention the ACT or Canberra. That's where all of the politicians hang out, and there's not much to see. . I haven't been to most of the above places, but I posted them so that I could fit in .

Note: Taw, what are you implying!?! Australians use the word "shares" not "stock". My use of the word "stock" was a subtle dig at the Yanks who don't know what shares are. It's nice that you noticed it.

i didn't know that! happy to see I was wrong
