DVD-ROMs can only read DVDs, not write to them.

No one has really answered me on this so I'll post it again.

But if I record - (minus) I can play it on my DVD-Rom whereas if I record + (plus), I cannot? It is an older Creative PC-DVD Blaster 16x from about a year ago. Just prior to all the +/- debate. Again I have a separate writer drive, I just don't like wearing out a good device on merely reading information when a less expensive Rom can do it instead.

Is it true + has a faster seek time? How big a difference is it?

Off the top of my head, "+" has a slightly faster seek time but, in practical terms, it means very little. "-" is the most popular format at this stage, particularly DVD-R. Do you want some links? I posted some a few months ago.
