who on earth would want to be represented by a Mannerist painting? ok some of the more subdued works of the post High Renaissance "crisis of style" are acceptable, but I can't rid my mind of that dreadful Bronzino painting of Venus and Cupid, or that foul Madonna with the Long Neck (Parmigiano?) which so exemplify everything I dislike about Mannerism.

I happen to like some of David Hockney's "blue" works. Not to be mistaken with nor analogized to Picasso's Blue Period.

There are two in particular that I find relaxing and meditative for me:
"Sun From The (left)" and "Mount Fuji With Flowers."

That one picture that has like 8 dimensions or something and people are walking upside down...

I have been thinking about this for quite a while, and I still can't come up with anything. I mean I could delve into the depths of Renaissance art and discuss Gentile Bellini, etc, but that would not help matters. I have a few ideas, but nothing concrete. Therefore, like ff, who wants a stab at me? I know that Taw and Indy will want to take a shot .
