The gaming scene is changing.
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I just wanted to post that link! thieving heathen!!! heheh just kidding, yeah the scene is changing.... you know thats stevie case??? she used to be a playboy model....... dont ask how i know that.
Oh yeah i play Dark Age Of Camelot and i see tons of girls playing it..... i mean alot.... so much so that I can comfortably say a good 90% of the female characters are actually female. I think part of that is because, the game is really social and besides that the point of the game isnt leveling or getting l33t items which turns away those dewds that love these games so much. In DAOC you can get max level in a few days if you put work into it, that of course being far from the point of the game, so I figure its a little bit to do with that aswell. Its a fairly easy game, lots and lots of fun, and as far as i have seen theres no discrimination or such of girls. I can count off at least 5-6 girls i know in real life, (none of them being fat or ugly) that play DAOC that i hang out with online and in RL. Besides that most of the girls I know off of the game tend to be real girls (part of my reason in believing so is because someone i know hosts a voicechat for DAOC on Ventrillo and much of everyone I know on the game ends up there talking), in fact, one i knew on the game, I thought was kind of nerdy, a friend of mine actually married in the game they ended up talking over the phone and going at it over a webcam he says shes really really fine and that it really surprised him.
Of course this doesnt interest me , but the scene is changing dramatically, games are becoming more and more social with multiplayer becoming almost a basic aspect of every game. For example in DAOC, I have actually been in 3-4 guilds who have had their primary leaders be girls, married in real life to actual other members (usually the second in charge) I figure since gaming is closer and closer to going mainstream the more people play it it will expand to be a neutral territory between both genders. As for the guys, I dont think alot of them are the geeks that most people picture them as, I would before say that alot of them actually have acceptable social lives, being one of them. And the more guys, and casual people actually play the games the more their girlfriends and wives get into it. I for one dont think that girls are a token among gamers anymore...... I suggest you do the same, the more welcoming you are (that means be welcoming in a friendly way, dont offer to show them puppies or hit on them and so on) the more the horizon will be open for more and more people to get in and play and enjoy. And after all, if you meet a girl character or a girl on the game, who cares? look at them as a character not a person, thats possibly the best way to approach it, you dont need them to prove it to you because a real one never would, so just enjoy. I know ill be doing my part
PS: I believe the person who said SWG has plenty of girls is somewhat mistaken, has lots of girl characters but Star Wars, although much more mainstream than before is still a little on the hardcore side of things, although I do know several who play.

If a girl/woman wants to get into playing games, the more the better. It helps sales, popularity, ect. I would like to engage a woman in chess, checkers, backgamon ect. Most of the computer games I play are single player and are against the computer which does not leave room to paly oposite someone. I would rather play opposite someone with an opposing point ov view rather than to compete with some one of like ideas. No challenge there. *Gathers up papers and sits back down*

"Alas, that may be wishful thinking - seeing the success of the pornography industry shows that some things will never change. Women or no women, the market will still be there, at least the PC is above that sort of thing."
Uh... since when? Or were you kidding... you're kidding, right? Were it legit, I could throw up some links for PC games that would make Ron Jeremy blush. You're out of your mind if you think PC gaming doesn't have 100x the "sex sells" titles that consoles have. Heck... Larry anyone?

Interesting thread, here's my over 40 two cents worth.
Men don't hold grudges, but women do...that's fact plays out every day.
I'd much rather meet another male character and battle them and get over it than go against a female, battle them, beat them and for the next 3 months spend my gaming time trying to avoid the payback that will eventually find me anyway.
All humor aside, female computer players are deadly. Female computer techs are deadlier. (Deal with it Taw.)

I SERIOUSLY doubt that 30% of gamers are girls. What percentage of the people on this forum are girls? Not 30%, I could tell you that much. Not that this forum represents the entire gaming community, of course, but I doubt it's much different elsewhere.

Jesus!!! How much are Microsoft paying this ****er?! All he does is advertise the Sims and Windows XP.
" The wide availability of a huge and diverse set of games makes Windows XP not only friendly for female gamers, but also for the whole family. No other platform can hope to compete with the incredible selection of games available on Windows XP that appeal not only to hardcore gamers, but also to the most casual players. And though the big-budget games available both on PCs and consoles can be great fun, Windows XP allows true innovation on the most personal scale."
This, you understand, is one of about five nearly identical paragraphs bull****ting on about XP, as well as some reference to the Sims.
"The Sims is a fantastic example of a game that has seen huge success, due in large part to its appeal to gamers of both genders. Nearly half of all Sims players are female according to a recent Newsweek cover story, though the game has no specific element or character that is clearly designed to be female-friendly. It’s just a great, fun game that is equally accessible to both men and women. The Sims is specifically designed to encourage exploration and experimentation, and includes very few ways for players to fail or lose."
This guy has obviously never played the Sims.
Sorry about the massive post, but it had to be said.
