Can I get any compensation at all from this?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Can I get any compensation at all from this?

Ok, well my email account has been down for about a week now...maybe a little more. And my ftp account/service has been up and down as well for about the same time period. Both services are from my ISP, Shaw. I called them up just a while ago and their automated voice sentinel told me that they were having "technical problems" with sending and recieving emails at the moment. The weird thing is that all the other people I've spoken to who are on Shaw don't have this problem -- only I do. Anyways, would I be able to call them up and ask them for compensation in one form or another? (ie, a free month of internet or some money refunded)

And no, I didn't and haven't actually spoken to an actual sales droid from Shaw yet. I haven't had the time lately to do so.

Oh yah, and stop spamming, ff.

I'd say you have room for negotiations, sure. I would walk down that path given same situation. Be nice but firm.

I find Sales Droids to be inefficitnt, slave labours so much better!

I'd check the clauses etc on your gaurantees etc first.

Thanks, guys. I miss my spam emails so much.

Also, would it help if i asked to talk to a "tier 2" "slave labouree" (is that right?)?

You want to talk to the billing supervisor or someone who is responsible for billing policies. Ask for that person's name and how to contact that person directly. Hopefully, your conversation is being recorded, in which case, the 'droid cannot bury your call.

Indeed, also I could set up a bunch of hotmail accounts and spam you if you so wish

Just demand a refund for the allotted time or else you will switch ISPs. If that doesn't work, steadily move up the ladder and do the same thing.

You might have to switch ISPs though...

Double-check the online documentation from your ISP, and the contract that you signed when joining. They will have statements such as "As part of the agreement with the customer, <Company Name> will provide the customer with services that are decribed under section 5A of this contract..." etc. If they are not providing the services that are stipulated in the contract, then you will have an iron-clad case to use against them.

I love reading through official documents and privacy policies, don't you? (I do actually).

Can you read all my future EULA's and tell me the bottom line Esquilax?

Post Thu Feb 19, 2004 3:29 pm

I could, but what would I get out of it?

Post Thu Feb 19, 2004 10:24 pm

We didnt sign anything. No contract. Nada.

Well, today my entire internet just died. No idea why. Ill wait a while and call them again if its still down.

This kinda crap has never happened to me before. Shaw has been great in the past

You must have singed something, either an application or an online form, otherwise the ISP would be liable to frivolous lawsuits such as "offensive material" which is a standard clause. Perhaps they have a link to the agreement on the home page.

@EB I had loads of trouble with my net connection a couple of years ago when I was working from home. I lost a load of business due to it - I mean whats the point of being a web designer if you don't have a net connection, right?! I tried and tried and tried for compensation....all I ended up with was a large phone bill from complaining. My solicitor said I didn't have a chance unless I wanted to put up the funds to try and sue the phone company (we're talkin thousands). Sorry to break it to you mate, you can try but I doubt you'll get anything. Best bet is to change supplier....and if you're locked into a contract you have the perfect reason to break out of it. I should know....I live with a lawyer

EDIT: port commodore?! **** I spend too much time here....mind you, it does have an alcoholic beverage in the title....hmmm....maybe I could get used to it
