Proteus Syndrome

Anyone ever heard of this affliction?
Im doing a 10-minute oral on it for science and i was wondering if anyone had any first-hand experience they could relate...

Isn't that the same affliction that Joseph Merrick "The Elphant Man" suffered?
I'm sure you could find plenty of information on the ailment if you use his name in search engines. You could even use him as a famous case study for your talk?

Joseph Merrick was orignally diagnosed with Elephantitis, the diagnosis was changed some years after his death to Neurofibramatosis. There is some speculation that he might have instead suffered from Proteus Syndrome, but nothing can be said for sure.

Well I'd very much doubt that it could have been elephantitis considering that it's caused by a parasitic worm found in tropical climates. Also since the growths it causes are actually massive fluid build-ups, it wouldn't have had the huge effect his condition had on his skeleton.
