Bad Drivers

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Actually the drivers of Columbus, OH, USA are in some ways worse than those of Los Angeles CA. One incident involved an older guy Backing Up on an Interstate Highway to get to an exit he missed. It's amazing nobody plowed into him. Also, people here seem to think the speed limits are just suggestions. Even the cops seem to have given up on stopping speeders. This place also seems to be the breeding ground for tailgaters. On nearly any residential street if you go the speed limit you will promptly grow an idiot on the rear of your car.

The hardest "Bad Driver" to hear about, is the teenager. Before you crank up the flame throwers, hear me out. In the Atlanta area, within the last year, I have read of the extremly poor judgement of some young ladies. They and other teens just don't have the driving experiance or knowledge of handeling a car in a dangerous situation. You see, thier names are in the Obits, killed while speeding, racing, passing in a no passing zone, ect. It is so hard to read about a death that could have been prevented.

Traffic here is pretty tame. People are generously courteous and sane. However, there are exceptions. My peers treat the parking lot at school like a demolition derby sometimes. I fear to park my pretty yellow Monte Carlo ( I had to say it) there!

Also, nobody in this city knows how to drive in snow. Remember that snow I posted about? It snowed for 30 min. Didn't even build up on the ground. That started at about 12:00 midnight. By 9:00 AM there were some 300 police reports of accidents and over 500 wrecker tow-aways.

Traffic in Los Angeles amuses me. Bumper to bumper... 80 mph! It's great fun to watch

One of the best ones from my city was an old woman who mistook a dual lane freeway for two seperate roads and proceeded to drive up the wrong side. She got about 20 km (12 odd miles) along without realising her mistake, despite numerous oncomming cars honking wildly and yelling obscenities. She did eventually come to a stop, but only after plowing head long into an oncomming semi-trailer. Thankfully she only killed herself.

Perfect example of our lax laws regarding elderly drivers.

lol
how can people be so stupid!!??
im smarter than most drivers and im only 14!
road basics:
there are many lines on a freeway
four are yellow, and there are two dashed white lines if you are on a dual lane freeway
there are two yellow lines on each side, and two in the middle representing the boundary
there are three different forms of the middle two lines, two solid lines mean there is no passing on either side, dashed lines on the left (on the right for all u ouside of america) mean the other side can pass cars in front of them, dashed lines on the right (on the left for all you outside of america) means people on the same side as you can pass other cars.
the white dashed lines simply divides lanes
while driving always stay on the outside lane so faster drivers can pass without having to tailgate
sometimes it is necessary to pull over

this is my world; it goes round and round and round

<Place tongue in cheek now>
Here in Melbourne, we have an interesting breed. They are usually of Greek of Italian descent, and possess fluffy dice and Holdens. They also have a penchant for driving VERY fast and eratically and have loud "techno" playing. This is the breed that I hate encountering on the road. Interestingly, they all go to TAFE colleges, and not Universities. Coincidence? I think not .

4WDs in general. f*ing w*kers. they seem to think they own the road.
P Platers (probationary drivers). either real c*ckheads or really slow.
supposedly "cool" chicks. Slow and unpredictable.

i suppose it could be worse

Beware of hats. Anyone driving and wearing a hat at the same time is going to be slow. This is a well documented occurance in the area I live in!

RANT WARNING

Driving.... Bad Drivers.... <takes two antacids and two ibuprophens>

Needless to say, driving in major urban centers are genuinely "challenging" experiences. NYC is no different. It starts with the cabbies. As a general rule, cabs in NYC today are driven by a group of new arrivals who think they learned everything there was to learn about driving in their own home countries. Most of which, from mainly third world countries, HAVE no real rules of the road or notions of driver courtesy or etiquette. All meter cabs in NYC are yellow. You can see them careening everywhere. Pulling left hand turns from the far right lane, stomping on the gas to beat red lights, and most odiously of all, leaning on their horns to get a traffic blockage a half mile up the road to move.... as if.

Then of course (and I borrow a term from Florida) there are the Q-Tips. These are the extremely elderly drivers, usually ladies, who insist on keeping their licenses up to date (I am forever dumbfounded that they are able to) when all one
can see above the dash board is a little tuft of white hair.

And then the young single male under 24 drivers. Statistics have shown that they are, as a demographic grouping, the single most dangerous class of drivers known. Supremely confident in their skills, speed of light reaction reflexes and whatnot being placed to the test at every opportunity on the highways just so that they can shave another 20 seconds off the total elapsed travel time. They may be brilliant drivers but it doesn't take into account the other lunatics on the road.

But, as someone mentioned earlier, right now the MOST DANGEROUS classs of vehicles driven on the road are the SUV/4WD drives. I have learned that not all SUVs are 4WD. One can be stupidly delusional and cheap enough to buy a RWD SUV and then drive it around like a 4WD! These vehicle buyers are the absolute worst right now. A danger to themselves, of course, but more importantly a deliberate menace to others. They'll even admit to you that they got an SUV so that, in a 2 car crash, they come out alive (never mind that they caused the crash and likely killed the others)!

Oh. And drunken or otherwise under the influence drivers should be shot on sight.
