Firefly

Any yanks seen this show? its the goodamn most original show since Smallville, im hooked, shame the show got cancelled, ive just got thru watching the series and i could just spend all day watching it, its awesome. I always wanted to make a tv show like that, when i was brainstorming for good ideas i came up with one JUST like firefly and now that someones goddamn made it i wish someone would give Joss some more money to make a second series. Hell, someone should pitch it to the BBC and we'll make them. I DESPERATELY need to see more of this show. I know theyre trying to make a Firefly film to finish off the story, and im hoping some people would be like "this is a pretty ****ing kick ass story" and commission another series.

So anyone else seen this show? what did you think?

I don't remember it well except that this show didn't pull enough viewers, I think although my wife says there may have been something about Joss himself and his interactions with the network suits as well.

I tried watching but couldn't get my head into the show. My bet is that it is much improved when viewed, without commercial interruption and in immediately sequencing series (i.e., on DVD). Didn't know what the premise was or anything so and the episode I tried watching (don't know which) just didn't do anything for me.

Here, for every 30 minutes of air time, as much as 13 minutes are devoted to commercial interruptions.... up to 26 minutes in an hour slot, naturally.

basically, its cowboys in space. The crew of the Serenity are a bunch of allsorts who do whatever jobs they can get their hands on to make ends meet, legal or otherwhise. Traveling to different worlds in a very freelancer kind of way, its like the millenium falcon of Han got his way from the beginning and him, chewie and luke set off looking for a bar fight and some credits.

Its funny as well, anyone familiar with Joss Whedons work knows that guy can WRITE and boy are the scripts good. Theres plot developments you wouldnt see coming even if you'd seen every episode of Stargate and Star Trek. Its just a really nice and original take on the future, where its not about aliens, ambasators, war and the like. its about making ends meet on what is basically, a flying home for lots of different people. I strongly suggest Seeing the feature length pilot episode.

Oh, and prostitution is legal, so theres lots of whores in it

In the USA, the Fox network showed the "Firefly" episodes out of order (the pilot was the last to air, after the decision to cancel). Three episodes were never broadcast, but the excellent DVD set has them all.

Firefly was very cleverly written. My favorite show was "Out of Gas," but it's hard to pick a favorite. The writers specialize in genre tweaking, and they like to combine aspects of westerns and sci-fi in unpredictable ways. Because the show was cancelled so quickly, much of the story remains to be told.

Producer Joss Whedon is working on a Firefly feature film. For more info, visit: http://www.fireflyfans.net/

Firefly is COOL!!

THEY CANCELLED IT!!?!????!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Goddamnit! They always cancel the good stuff. I admit I only saw 4 or 5 episodes (on the sci-fi channel), but it was superb. Why did they cancel it?!! HUMPF!

Wolfy, I second that. Must I repeat my "Not all Americans are Yanks speech"?

This is the exact text copied from the "India's Space Programme" Thread:

<---------Start Rant-------->

I hear the term 'Yanks'.

On the contrary, there are only a few, if that, true yanks on this board. Most of us live in parts of the United States other than the New England and Mid-Atlantic States like massacusetts and New York. For example: Stinger and I live in Ohio, a part of the midwestern states. In the Midwest the states are known by the mascot of their largest college football team. Therefore, Ohioans are known as Buckeyes (Bucks for short). I don't care what you call us, just be aware that not all Americans take being called a 'Yank' as lightly as I did. Mets fans especially.

This has been another SpamSightful momnt brought to you by Eh_Steve.

I just am not a fan of New England as a whole. Just being called a Yank hurts my Alabama heritage.

That show sounds great, reminds me somewhat of Farscape - original ideas that remain largely on a personal level based around the characters but funding cut off before even a decent ending could be completed.
oh and Arcon, you should know better than to ask the BBC to finish it off. I can see it now; spacecraft made out of plastic bottles, a paper plate and some lolly sticks, suspended by string in front of some black cardboard with some glitter glued onto it.

Firefly was just such a great show.. i'm really looking forward to when the DVD-Box is available here, and i'm hoping that the Firefly Movie will come into beeing (and'll be a success)

Recusant, you know that they're making a Farscape mini-series to tie up all the loose ends?

Well, I'm not a Yank, I'm Canadian. We're just unarmed Yanks with health care.

But I saw this show and I think it's really boring. I'm not into the sci-fi thing.

Except Halo! Halo halo halo! They should make a movie...and a TV-show about Halo. Then I can enjoy it even away from my computer.

I know I could read the books but reading takes the effort to understand the words. TV shows is just mindless killing !

EDIT: I just read my post and...my posts are edging towards spam more and more every day.
